Heavenly Father,

Because of our many responsibilities, life may seem a challenge. Let us look beyond our day-to-day duties to answer a much more grander call-to-action: to help others in Your name. We thank You for giving us the opportunity to do good works through Kiwanis.

And now bless this food to our use and us to Your service. Amen

Dear Florida Kiwanis Club Presidents, Secretaries and Lt. Governors:

Our 2008-09 year end is drawing near, but it is not yet over, and it is time to gear up for 2009-10.  That is why I and Florida Kiwanis is unveiling "OPERATION JUMP START."

"OPERATION JUMP START" will encourage Kiwanis Clubs to recruit a minimum of one new member per month for the months of June, July, August and September.  Every club that processes at least one new member in each of our remaining 4 months in 2008-09 will receive a banner patch.  The only "catch" is one new member add form and payment must be submitted to Kiwanis International each month, with a copy of the form and copy of the check sent to:     Operation Jump Start

    Florida District of Kiwanis International

    5545 Benchmark Lane

    Sanford  FL  32772-8116

Clubs submitting at least 1 new member add form and payment each month for June, July and August will receive special recognition at the District Convention in Orlando, August 27-30, 2009, but to receive the banner patch you must also submit a new member form and payment in September, too.

We need to rally round the flag next month and drum up the Kiwanis spirit and start hosting Special Guest Days and membership drives starting on Flag Day, June 14th, and celebrate the July 4th Independence Day with firecrackers and new members recruited so that they will be ready to work with our K-Kids, Builders Clubs, Key Clubs, CKI and Aktion Clubs as school begins in August. Kiwanis NEEDS you and our membership to each ask one person to join now to help your community help your youth develop the next generation of leadership. Be patriotic! Give your best now to get your club motivated and begin the campaign now. Take the drive to our Kiwanis troops. You know you can do it. Together we will make a difference and bring home membership victory. Our Service Leadership Programs need Kiwanians. Let's get them now.

Let us REACH OUT to our membership, so they can help us grow the number of Kiwanis hands that will REACH UP and help make our communities better.

"OPERATION JUMP START" will create exciting momentum to help set the pace for Governor-Elect Donna and the 2009-10 leadership team of District, Division and Club leaders.  Let's 'jump to it.'  We'll be glad we did.

  Sincerely, Governor Dave

The first Kiwanis club was organized in Detroit, Michigan, USA on January 21, 1915. A year later the Kiwanis Club of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, was chartered, and Kiwanis International grew rapidly into a leading service club in these two founding nations. In 1962, worldwide expansion was approved, and today Kiwanis clubs are active in every part of the world.
