A budding star has hit the ground running with Broadway Across America's"Movin' Out," a musical by Twyla Tharp and Billy Joel. Chris Lingner, a youngperformer who graduated from University High School in Indianapolis just lastyear, has a short bio but a plethora of talent.

Dancing since the age of five, Lingner is no stranger to the stage. He performed withShowtime Dance for 12 years, followed by a two year stint at Beyond Dance Studiojust north of Indianapolis. Demands in the dance world required Lingner to seek amore flexible, yet educationally challenging, program at University High School.Following graduation, Lingner was accepted to the University of Arizona where heplanned pursue dreams of performing with an incredibly talented dance company.Showbiz, however, had other plans.

While performing at a national dance competition in Nashville, Tennessee, Lingnerwas approached about casting for "Movin' Out." A couple phone calls later and twodays before Lingner was to leave for college, he auditioned in Chicago. Five hours ofgrueling numbers, a second day of auditions and an experience amazing in itself ledto Lingner being offered a role.

With such an opportunity, Lingner deferred college and packed his bags. Because"Movin' Out" is a traveling production, he has the opportunity to travel extensively.

"It's amazing to get to really see the country." Lingner explains, "It's things you mayhave seen in pictures but is so much more majestic in real life."

Lingner still misses Indiana, almost every day in fact. He explains that friends andfamily are a large part of his life and being away from them is sometimes difficult. Hedoes, however, get some well-deserved time off and equates it to being in collegeaway from home.

In the future, Lingner would like to continue working if circumstances allow, butdoesn't plan on giving up hisgoal to participate in a strongcollege dance company.Although Lingner insists hewas never a big dreamerabout New York City,becoming a hit sensation, orthe bright lights of Broadway,fate has seemed to disagree.A talented young performer,Chris Lingner's star continuesto ascend.
