While classroom checks are one means of identi- fying infestations, they are no substitute for regular parental checks. Check your child's head often at home. Be aware of complaints of an itchy scalp. If you find your child has lice, contact your health care provider, pharmacist, or school nurse for advice. Not sure about what you see? The number of times a student is permitted to retest will be limited in order to avoid complacency about study- ing/paying attention the first time.
