We sing of Easter joy during the Great Feast Day of 50 days! The Offertory Hymn sings of the Disciples on the road to Em-maus, where Jesus appeared to them as a stranger. Let us never fail to recognize Him in our brothers and sisters.
Tomorrow begins the month of May, which the Church sets aside to honor Mary. Her great prayer is the “Magnificat” when she said yes to becoming Jesus’ Mother, the first and holiest of Christians. Jacob O’Shea, a bass in the Choir, sings the text written above from the “Magnificat”. Jacob is a Sophomore at the Setnor School of Music, Syracuse University. Since next Sunday is his last before returning home for the summer, I wanted you to hear his beautiful voice. The text is in Latin, but the translation is given above. This great prayer of Mary is so appropriate during this season. Ernest Camerota

Jason Evert's Booklet Pure Love is a collection of pertinent
points from his many seminars on chastity. In an easy to
read question and answer format, Pure Love is a good in-
troduction to the topic of chastity. It might contain just the
right words for these personal conversations between par-
ent and young adult.
Adoration and Benediction schedule change:
Our parish has offered an hour long Adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament and Benediction every Wednesday for the last five
years. We will now offer this beautiful opportunity to spend
an hour with Jesus from 7 PM to 8 PM every other Wednes-
day starting on May 3rd. The dates for Adoration after that are
May 17, May 31, June 14, and June 28. We recite Evening prayer
from the Liturgy of the Hours and provide the special blessing
that is Benediction. All are welcome to participate in this most
precious hour of prayer and adoration of Our Lord.
HOPE Appeal 2017
Our annual HOPE Appeal in-pew will be the weekend of May 20-21. Holy Cross has always been the leader in this campaign. Last year our goal was $122,382 and you contributed $298,555 or 244% of the goal. The average gift from Holy Cross was $485.
This year our goal is $123,004. I am ask-ing you to consider a pledge of $310 per family or 85₵ a day—less than a bottle of water and we can change lives and bring hope to thousands of needy in our diocese.
Also because of your goodness Holy Cross received 1/2 of the overage or $87,661 which went to the parish program of Evange-lization, IT, Youth and Young Adult Ministry.
You so enact Jesus’ words—”As long as you did it to one of these, you did it to Me”. It is Jesus we honor ~ let us once again do it more generously.
Next Weekend - Receptions
Next weekend there will be a reception after all the Masses for both Sister Rose Bill and Kathy Fitzgibbons. Both are retiring from parish work and we owe them all our best wishes for jobs so well done. Please stop and wish them well.
