__June 2012__ VIEW FROM THE STUDY COME TO ME “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” This great offer of ‘rest from our burdens’ from our Lord Jesus, is taken from Mathew 11:28. I often amaze myself at how I allow the burdens of the world weigh me down, and fail to actively avail myself to the great heavy lifter. Do you ever find yourself in a similar circumstance? If we had to move a refrigerator, we would ask a friend for help. If we needed a ride to pick up our car from the service station, we would ask for help. I wonder why I/we are so reluctant to lay our real burdens at the foot of the cross, and walk away relieved? If I am so prompted by the Spirit of God to lay down my burdens, and I am, it seems I can not let them stay at the Lord’s feet, as I only trust that my trudging under the load causes progress… Along with the Apostle Paul, I tend to think, “Wretched man that I am, why?” Why would I not present my health, my fears, my concerns to the Lord on bended knee and leave them there, so that I can move on to do what God would have me do, rather than fret??? We folks from the reformed tradition clearly recognize that our sinful nature is constantly whispering in our ear that we get only what we work for, and we are hard pressed to embrace the grace our Lord so clearly offers. On Sunday, June 10th, the session has authorized a special Sunday worship service; a special service where we are given the opportunity to lay our burdens at the feet of our Lord. Whatever your burdens be, health, financial, relationships, or sinful habits, anything and everything that weighs you down, join me and avail yourself of this opportunity. Jesus promises us, when we do this thing, “you will find rest for your souls.” [Matt.11:29b.] Grace and peace, Paul OUR GRADUATES PROCESS INTO CHURCH KOLBY RECEIVING HIS CONGRATULATIONS THE CELEBRATION! COME TO ME

“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” This great offer of ‘rest from our burdens’ from our Lord Jesus, is taken from Mathew 11:28. FAITHFUL SAINT AWARD

The Session is proud to recognize our 2012 Faithful Saint Award nominee. On June 21st, The Presbytery of Coastal Carolina will honor and recognize Elder Floyd Brown as a 2012 recipient of the Faithful Saint Award. This award goes to senior members from among the churches in our Presbytery who have, especially in their retirement, demonstrated faithfulness in service to their community and their church. Floyd’s work as a volunteer in the prison ministry at Sanford Correctional Facility, his service to our church as an elder, as the primary communion preparation person, as the initiator and trainer of our acolytes, his creation of our children’s ministry worship diorama, and his participation and leadership in our men’s meetings prompted his nomination. In recognizing the accomplishments of the retired members of our churches, the Presbytery hopes their efforts will encourage and inspire those who are entering into their retirement. Our Lord has work for us all, and our retirement from full time work allows us the opportunity to serve our church and our community in ways that may not have been available before. Thank you Floyd, not only for your efforts on behalf of your God, but also your inspiration for us to follow in your footsteps.
