Saturday 04/14/2018 � Location and Start Time The 5 Km fun run is a timed Fun Run/Walk. It will start at the Greenlee County Fairgrounds at 8:30 A.M. on Saturday, April 14, 2018. Late registration for this event will start at 7:00 A.M at the Fairgrounds until 15 minutes before the start. All participants are welcome to the complimentary light breakfast that is also available to the cycling participants. � Registration Online registration via SWSportsReg.com is required for this event and closes 5 min prior to race start (price increase applies for late entries). Participants who prefer to pay by cash or check are strongly encouraged to create a free account on SWSportsReg.com before the event to expedite their registration on race day. JAVELINA CHASE 5 KM RUN

Saturday 04/14/2018

� Course The run will start on Fairgrounds Rd near the Fire Station and run South (towards Duncan) for approximately 1 mile. The runners will then turn around (near the bank) and run North to the other end of Fairgrounds Rd, past the Fire Station to near the junction of AZ 75. Just before the junction, the route sweeps right onto a dirt service road adjacent to AZ 75, which extends into the back side of the Fairgrounds. Once inside the Fairgrounds the course follows Race Track Rd to the East and around the East end of the horse track. The course winds its way around the grandstands and follows the track to the North end of the parking lot. The final stretch will be marked up to the finish line.

+ ARTICLE 1: ORGANIZATION The 2018 Javelina Chase Omnium is organized by the Gila Javelina Bike Club with the technical assistance of SWSportsReg.com / La Roue d’Or, LLC, and the support of all our sponsors and volunteers. The event is taking place on Saturday 04/14/18 in the city of Ducan, AZ, and on Sunday 04/15/18 in the city of Lordsburg, NM. The omnium event is held under USA Cycling permit #2018-359, and the Grand Fondo and Ghost Mine Rumble are held under USAC permit #2017-357 and all USAC rules and penalties apply.

+ ARTICLE 2: TYPE OF EVENT The event is a USA Cycling Class D two-day omnium with individual stage results and an omnium general classification combining the results of individual stages. Consequently, participants may enter either Stage 1, Stage, 2, Stage 3, or all stages. However, only participants entering at least two stages before Friday 04/13/18, 8:00 PM (AZ time), will be eligible for the omnium general classification and associated awards.

The Saturday Road Race is serving as the 2018 AZ State Championships for Masters and Juniors categories, and as the 2018 Southwest Collegiate Cycling Conference Regional Championships.

The event is entered on the Arizona Bicycle Racing Association (azcycling.org) and USAC calendars. In conformity with USAC rules, the event will offer USAC points for individual rider national ranking, as well as upgrade points for each stage and the omnium general classification.

Registration for the Javelina Chase Omnium is entirely managed online by SWSportsReg.com.

Online registration will remain open until 15 minutes prior to indicated race start times. However,

there is NO DAY OF OMNIUM REGISTRATION. Instead, registration for the omnium will close

Friday 04/13/18 at 8:00 PM to allow the organizer enough time to prepare all electronic files

needed to score the omnium event in a timely manner during each stage.

For the Road Race, Time Trial, and Criterium Races (not for the Gran Fondo or Ghost Mine

Rumble), participants must hold a USA Cycling license. Annual licenses can be purchases on USA

Cycling website before the event. One-day beginner licenses (Men and Women Cat. 5 only) are

available for purchase ($10) during registration. One-day experienced licenses (Men and Women

Cat. 1-4) are available for purchase ($25) on USAC website only and proof of purchase must be

provided at packet pick up.

Note: for the Master and Junior State Road Race Championships, only individuals holding a

USAC annual license and residing in AZ are eligible for awards.



Participants must register before Friday 04/13/18, 8:00 PM, and race at least two stages to

accrue points and be eligible for the omnium general classification prizes. Junior and Master

athletes racing the AZ State Championships on Saturday will be ranked in their respective age

groups (indicated above) for the purpose of the Omnium. Participants racing an age group on

Stage 1 and a category on Stage 2 or 3 will not be scored in the omnium.

To enter the event, participants need to pay an entry fee. The fee schedule is the following:

+ ARTICLE 4: RACE HEADQUARTERS & RACE NUMBERS The race headquarters will be located near the Start/Finish line for each stage and managed by SWSportsReg.com. For each stage, race headquarters will open 1h before the first race and close 15 minutes after the last race.

Participants will pick up their race numbers at race headquarters. Each participant must sign a USA Cycling waiver AND a Greenlee County Waiver. Participants will receive one number per race entered. However, participants registering for two or three stages will receive only one number for the entire week-end.

Place your racing number on the side of your jersey (not in the back, not on your shoulder blade), else we can’t identify you on the photo-finish film!!! See example below.

For this event, the racing numbers will be placed: - on the LEFT side of the jersey for the Road Race - on the RIGHT side or on the back of the jersey for the Time Trial - on the LEFT side of the jersey for the Criterium



+ ARTICLE 5: NEUTRAL TECHNICAL SUPPORT The organizer has no neutral technical support planned for the participants. Thus, participants are encouraged to bring their own spare equipment (wheels, bikes, and bike parts accepted). Spare equipment can be placed in follow vehicles on Saturday, and in the pit area located near the Start/Finish on Sunday.

+ ARTICLE 6: FEEDING PROCEDURES For Saturday, the organizer has planned feed zones areas where participants can receive energy bars and liquids. See course maps to locate the feed zones.

For Sunday, only in case of high temperatures (above 85 degrees) race referees may allow participants to get cold refreshments from siblings or teammates located in safe locations on the side of the course. The referees will announce whether or not they allow feeding, and, if allowed, the location of the feed zone.

+ ARTICLE 7: FINISHING TIME LIMITS Per requirement from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), on Saturday all participants must be back at the Fairgrounds at 4:00 PM.

For Sunday, participants will all finish on the same lap as the leaders. However, participants may be asked to stop if the referees assess that the safety of others or the outcome of the race may be affected. Riders pulled by referees will be scored in the results as finishers after riders who complete the race and at the position they were relative to other participants.

Riders who decide to stop on their own must inform the referees at the finish line as soon as possible, and will be recorded as DNF (Did Not Finish).

+ ARTICLE 8: SCORING - POINTS BONUSES - CLASSIFICATIONS Results for each stage should be posted on SWSportsReg.com (link in top right corner). Results for the omnium classification should be posted on GolWheelCup.com (link in top right corner). Hard copies of stage results and omnium general classification will also be posted at race headquarters on race day. In accordance with USAC regulations, participants will have 15 minutes to protest the results after posting in headquarters. Past the 15 minutes protest period, the organizer will carry out the award ceremonies using the posted results. In case of issues involving places with prizes, participants who lodge their protest after the 15 minutes period will forfeit the prizes they were eligible for.

Each stage will allow omnium participants to score points based on their ranking as detailed in the tables below. If participants not registered for the omnium place in between omnium participants, they will be ignored for the omnium classification so that there is no displacement of omnium participants by other participants (e.g. participants registered for the omnium place 1st and 3d in Stage 1 with a non-omnium participants placing 2nd, rider #1 in Stage 1 will receive 60 points and rider #3 in Stage 1 receive 54 points towards the omnium classification).

During Stage 3 (criterium), if several categories are racing at the same time (e.g. Women Masters 35+ and Women Master 50+), each individual category will be scored separately for omnium points.



COLLEGIATE RIDERS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE OMNIUM SCORING GIVEN THE RACES SERVES AS THIR REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. The omnium general classification will consist in summing the points received by each participant during individual stages. The winner of the omnium general classification in a given category will be the participant with the most points. In case of ties at the end of a stage, the ties will be broken using the ranking of participants in the last stage completed.

+ ARTICLE 9: PRIZES The event organizer will offer the prizes listed below. In case of low participation, the organizer reserves the right to lower or substitute the prize lists to amounts matching the number of participants (see tables below for details).

Participants must be present at the award ceremonies to receive their prizes. Participants who are not present without providing a valid reason to referees will forfeit their prizes (no mailing of checks or medals/trophies) as per USAC rule #8A5(k).

+ ARTICLE 10: ANTIDOPING At any time USADA (US Anti-Doping Agency) may be present at the event and select participants for controls. As agreed upon when signing the event release form, all participants who pick up their race number, that they start and finish the race or not, may be selected for a control. Participants who are selected for a control but do not present themselves to USADA may be considered in violation of USADA regulations and be sanctioned to a level USADA sees fit.

+ ARTICLE 11: AWARD CEREMONIES As per USAC regulations, 15 minutes after the race results are posted at the race headquarters and the protest period has ended, the organizer will hold award ceremonies. The top 3 in each race division listed in Article 8 above will be asked to attend the award ceremony for each stage and for the omnium event. Per rule #8A5(k), participants not attending the award ceremonies without a valid reason explained to referees will forfeit their prizes (no mailing of checks or medals/trophies).

+ ARTICLE 12: PENALTIES The USAC scale of penalty is applicable for this event. As allowed per USAC rules, referees may decide to reduce or increase the penalties listed in the USAC rulebook as deemed necessary.

+ State Championships Eligibility & Awards - Any participant may enter the event. However, only those holding an Annual USAC membership and having their domicile in AZ (as indicated on a government issued ID) are eligible for Championship Podium spots (race and championship podiums will be offered if out-of-State athletes place in the top 3). - USAC annual memberships can be purchased on www.USACycling.org (Adult = $75 / Junior = $35). - Participants not interested in the AZ State Championships may purchase a one-day membership for $10 (race only, not required for Gran Fondo and Ghost Mines Rumble participants) - USAC medals to the top three riders in each State Championship Category (i.e. Juniors and Masters). - Jersey voucher/certificate given to the top rider in each Championship category (i.e. the organizer pays for your State Champion Jersey!!!).

Note: Junior and Master athletes racing the AZ State Championships on Saturday will be ranked in their respective age groups (indicated above) for the purpose of the Omnium.
