As URA readers may remember, for the past two years, John Bice of Cherry has been planting, raising, and maintaining a community garden as a tool for helping the needy and reaching out to strangers. JTB would very much like to have a nice Jesus and/or Virgin Mary statue to place in the center of the garden. to make 2015 Bless Our Babies Collection a Great success

For the third year in a row, St. Patricks Arlington, Holy Trinity Cherry, and St. Thomas More Dalzell partnered together to collect baby items for needy local families. This year, these churches called upon partner-ships with local schools to assist them. Participating schools included Dimmick School, John F. Kennedy Spring Valley, and Peru Catholic. All collected items will be distributed through Project Success of Eastern Bureau County/Spring Valley Food Pantry. In addition, the following local business and individuals sponsored the effort with their donations allowing the team to acquire more needed items than ever before. God-sized tasks are big. They feel big because

they are something only a big God can do. If you and I can accomplish the

task at hand, then its probably not from God.

In fact, anything you and I do apart from God

    is insignificantmotherhood, wife,

disciple, etc Thats why we often fail at our

own attempt to serve God and others by OUR

OWN efforts. On the other hand, anything we do by the power of God and WITH God, we can

    label as Greatness. Micca Campbell,

    spiritual writer and speaker

Pat Croisant of Dalzell emailed us, In the photo of the basketball team in the May issue, I think the coach is John Bama and #45 is his brother Ken Balma. Love your paper. Read it all the time. Brings back so many good memories of people in the area. Ken Wiltse of Spring Valley confirmed Pats info!

If you're not making mistakes, then you're

not doing anything. I'm positive that a doer makes mistakes.

    -John Wooden, hall of fame

    basketball coach

It isnt that life is so short. its more

that we should NOT wait too long to rec-ognize and get start-ed down the Great

path God has chosen for us.

Please email or mail to JTB.

Great Moment! Leroy Lunn and Jim Troglio Meet a long way from Ravioli Alley! Wow! One of the Greatest moments in Hall High School football history oc-curred in 1953 when former Hall teammates Leroy Lunn of Army met with Jim Troglio of Northwestern at mid-field prior to their game. Join-ing them was their former coach the Great Rich Nesti.

JTB wants to make sure all know that Ravioli Alleys Eiberger Family Gave Their All in WW II

A quick bit of research potentially shows a very interesting story about a couple of Ravioli Alley brothers who gave their all in World War Two. The 1930 census shows the Eiberger family as tenant farmers living between Cherry and Arlington. The 1940 census shows the family living in Spring Valley. Earl went to Cherry High School (three year school) and seems to have graduated after that from Hall. The Eiberger family lost both boys in WW II, early in 1945 less than two months apart! Both Staff Sargents, John Leonard (called Leonard) was in the Army and was killed Feb 1, 1945 and Earl was in the Army Air Force, killed March 22, 1945. Records show that their mother and father ordered military grave plates for their sons around 1950. Both have markers and stones in the Ladd cemetery. If any reader has more info on these two heroes, JTB would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Ironically neither boy is listed in historical records for those killed either in Arlington, Cherry, or Ladd. Lets all remember Leonard and Earl today by saying a prayer and thanking them for all they did for us back in Ravioli Alley. Pictured below is Earl with the Cherry High School basketball team.
