C R I M S O N V E I L SThe Crimson Veils is an ongoing series of work that began back in 2013 when I first really got serious about figure painting.

I wanted to produce a body of work that not only explored the beauty and complex nature of the female form but also went further and combined my interest of fantasy art and passion for abstract landscape/seascape art too.

the women I depict are often in a graceful or harmonious pose, or in a deep state of contemplation or thought. the Veils are an extension of these thoughts and can be viewed as the subconscious manifesting from within the figures. They take form be it hair or a dress or fabric like an elemental entity. the red/crimson colour is to represent a primitive state, like volcanic larva when the earth was young. the latter pieces are the Black Veils collection which have a slightly darker ‘noir’ style feel.

Nature plays an import element to these pieces, as its a huge influence in my work and so when I paint an abstract landscape/seascape I want the figures to be in harmony with that background.

Often in life its the sight of nature reminds us of the true beauty of the world and so these figures, like the viewer of the painting, are submerging themselves with the landscape, embracing it as if they were ‘mother nature’.

my ambition with this ongoing collection is to continually develop it further and explore the different atmospheric tones of sky scape/landscape/seascape paintings and on that same note the female figure too in various styles of attire. I wish to create above all moments of deep contemplation, where one can lose themselves in the moment through atmospheric landscapes and figure painting.

these pieces have all been produced with acrylic paint on acrylic paper at various sizes. I love using acrylics as it’s fast drying and leaves a strong bold finish. In addition I use gloss mediums to build layers as well as to add textures to the pieces.

the loose sketchy feel to these paintings is a style that I adore and aspire to, the more unrefined the better I find, they have more life and atmosphere to me, which again is something I wish to capture in my work.

my reason for submitting these work to you at this stage is for it to be reviewed by professionals in the fine art world. I want them to be seriously critiqued and to attain important feedback for me to grow and develop as an artist. and not only for the work but also my themes and choice of figures and backgrounds and whether these would be something the gallery would one day be interested in exhibiting.

It would be a life long dream to have my work up for sale one day in a gallery and with your help I hope to make this dream a reality.
