VOL. 1, ISSUE 5 December 2019 Happy Holidays from ISU-COT Dean Alp As you know, I arrived to Indiana State University (ISU) as the new Dean of the College of Technology (COT) in August 2018. It is an honor to serve at this level to our wonderful College and University, and accomplish so much in a very short time. I thank faculty, staff, students, and COT friends for their support during my first year at ISU. As the Fall 2019 semester has come to an end, first of all, I want to congratulate the students who have graduated from the COT, as well as, those who continue to choose ISU College of Technology for their educational journey. We are here to assist you and make sure that you have a great experience. For those of you who have already graduated, exciting things are happening in the College. Architectural Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, and Manufacturing Engineering Technology programs had a very successful ABET-ETAC initial accreditation visit. The Packaging Engineering Technology program has received $1.3 million worth packaging software from ESKO. Also, we have received $77,000 from the Endress+Hauser Company to support our engineering program. We also thank our alumni and other supporters who continue to support our programs financially through endowments and other types of gifts. I also would like to congratulate COT faculty and students who have received scholarships and recognition from internal and external entities. On behalf of the ISU College of Technology family, I wish you a Happy Holiday and great winter break. We look forward to seeing you back on campus or partnering with you in 2020! We would like to give a very warm thank you and congratulations to the following faculty/staff for their recent accomplishments: John Gallagher - Applied Engineering and Technology Management Administrative Assistant: 40 years at ISU Kevin Donnar - ISU Flight Academy Chief Instructor Pilot, Cathy Nutter - ISU Flight Academy Administrative Assistant, and Stephanie Jeffers - Director of Outreach: 5 years at ISU Dr. Szufang Chuang has started to serve as Interim Department Chair for HRDPT Christina Cantrell has started her new position as Student Services Director Emma Crossen has joined the University Advancement office as the Development Director for the College of Technology Clint Weddle has joined the University Advancement office as the Director of Corporate and Foundation Giving Dr. Tad Foster, Former COT Dean and HRDPT Faculty, will start his phased- retirement effective January 1, 2020 Dr. Andrew Payne, BE Department Chair, will leave ISU and start his new position as Dean of the College of Architecture and Construction Management at Kennesaw State University, effective January 1, 2020. 18-19 Annual Report The College of Technology Annual Report is available now. Click the picture or access it here . International Students' Day Follow our social media: Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram, for updates on activities by our students and student organizations! Check out our International Students' Day, organized by COT Graduate Assistant, Sara Touira. This event brought together and celebrated students from around the world and shared their culture. Students set up booths to display food, music, and some giveaways from different countries around the world. Featured countries included Morocco, India, Saudi Arabia, and more! COT Outreach and Employer Engagement The College of Technology is proud to connect with school corporations, employers, and local companies to help our students with internship and employment opportunities as well as highlight College of Technology programs and activities. A few recent events include: Annual Community Career+Education Forum at Endress+Hauser in Greenwood, IN Minority Engineering Program of Indianapolis (MEPI) at Eli Lilly in Indianapolis STEM Day at Hoosier Prairie Elementary School for 5th Graders Indiana Conference for Women Technology and Engineering Education students and our partners at the Vigo County School Corporation and the NEAT experience Please reach out at [email protected] if you or your company/corporation is interested in partnering or organizing events with the College of Technology!
