The Cesar E. Chavez Legacy and Educational Foundation along

with Mi Tierra Restaurant would like to request your presence

this Saturday February 11, 2012 at 9:00am for a Press

Conference for the unveiling ceremony of the portrait of Mr.

Jaime P. Martinez on the Mi Tierra Restaurants Wall of Fame.

Mr. Martinez was bestowed the honor of having his portrait

painted on this Wall of Fame after being recognized by the

Cortez family for his life long contributions and work in the

promotion of social justice, community empowerment, civil

rights, and human rights at the local, national, and internationallevel. Mr. Martinez will join key historical figures such as Cesar

E. Chavez and Emiliano Zapata, as well as other key figures of

our Hispanic/Latino history in the US and Mexico whom have

contributed to the empowerment, culture, and development of

our community in the US. Mr. Martinez has been and continues

to be an inspirational and key figure in social movements

concerning labor, immigration, and civil rights. As a SanAntonio native his impact on our city has been tremendous, with

more than 40 years of being involved in social movements

advocating and being the voice for the poor, marginalized, and

the forgotten people of San Antonio. Mr. Martinez has a long

trajectory of success and recognition for his work, however he is

a man that remains humble and connected to his roots in the

West Side of San Antonio where his Grandparents reared him to

become the community leader that he is. More than forty yearslater of becoming a labor leader with the IUE AFL-CIO, he joins

his mentor Cesar E. Chavez founder of the United Farm

Workers in being recognized at the landmark that is Mi Tierra

Restaurant and Bakery in San Antonio.

Purpose: The unveiling ceremony of the portrait of Mr. Jaime P.

Martinez on the Wall of Fame at Mi Tierra Restaurant and

Bakery for his ongoing contributions and work for social justice

in our community. The Mayor of San Antonio will be present at

the unveiling ceremony and will be speaking about the impact

and positive contributions Mr. Jaime P. Martinez has given tothe City of San Antonio.
