Install Risers wherever track will be laid. This raises the track level to the height of the Risers, causing surrounding areas to be lower. Modelers can quickly and easily make creeks and other low-lying areas without cutting into the layout base.

Flexible Inclines allow track to easily change elevations on curves or straights. The SubTerrain System’s pre-cut Inclines (with 2%, 3% or 4% grade) remove the guesswork and complicated calculations.

Interlocking Profile Boards are joined with matching Connectors to make a sturdy layout perimeter that can easily be cut with the Hot Wire Foam Cutter (our unique cutter) to conform to any profile desired.

Cut Foam Sheets with the Hot Wire Foam Cutter and use to enclose tunnels, create interior terrain profiles and form level, elevated areas for buildings and towns.

Form terrain with newspaper wads. Cover them with Plaster Cloth that has been dipped in water. Install the Track-Bed (HO, O or N scale). Create realistic streets, roads and parking lots using the Road System. Then finish the layout with Woodland Scenics Terrain and Landscape products.

Five Easy Steps to a simplified and improved layout system for beginners and advanced modelers

Install InclinesInstructions for Installing Inclines:After Risers are pinned in place, Inclines (Sets or Starters) are mounted to the top of Risers. Inclines can also be mounted directly to the layout base. 1. Temporarily pin each Incline section in place with Foam Nails. NOTE: If you are working with pre-established elevations, it may be easier to start at your highest elevation and work down. 2. Permanently install Risers and Inclines by applying a bead of Low Temp Foam Glue along edges that touch each other and the layout base. Thin Incline sections, such as the leading edge of Starter, should be surface glued using Foam Tack Glue. NOTE: It’s a good idea to temporarily lay track and test your train before permanently attaching Risers and Inclines. If necessary, make changes to you Risers and Inclines and retest train. 3. After glue has dried, remove Foam Nails. 4. Fill and smooth rough spots with Foam Putty. When dry, sand with 220-grit sandpaper.

Use Starters for: • Humpyards • Road Crossings • Bumpers

For additional information, read the SubTerrain Manual (ST1402), see the video SubTerrain: Build a Layout Fast and Easy (DVD-ST1400, VHS-ST1401), or visit our Web site at www.woodlandscenics.com.
