A Lie to Reject“Jesus Christ was

just a man”

A Truth to Embrace“Jesus was born of a virgin to redeem and restore mankind.”

“.Jesus was born of a virgin to redeem and restore

mankind”

The Biblical argument:John 1:14 – the Word became fleshJohn 1:29 - Christ came to redeemJohn 14:6 - Christ is the only Way

Psalm 14:2,3; Ecclesiastes 9:3 – Sin is universalEphesians 2:9; Job 15:14 – we are not the solutionJames 1:17 – God is the solution

The Logical Argument - Two Alternatives

His claims were falseHis claims were true

He did not knew they were false

He knew they were

false

LiarHypocrite

LunaticDelusional

He IS the LORD

ACCEPT REJECT

Was Christ a liar?IF we wrongfully conclude that Christ was a liar we must also conclude that he was a:

Hypocrite as he taught others to be honest whatever the cost.

And a….

Demon because he encouraged others to trust Him for their eternal destiny.

We would also conclude that he was a fool Because his wrongful claims led to his death.

Was Christ a lunatic?

“In light of all we know about Christ its hard to imagine he was mentally disturbed. He was loving but didn’t have a bloated ego. He maintained balance despite a demanding lifestyle. He knew what he was doing and where he wasgoing. He responded to indivuals based on where they were and what they uniquely needed”

Psychologist Gary R. Collins

Was Christ Lord?“Our decision about Jesus need not be merely an idle intellectual exercise. History’s depiction of Jesus; the early church’s clear identification of Him as Deity and His valid claims to be so provide ample, sustainable evidence of His claims.

“Life Change”

“If we truly believe that Jesus was born of a virgin to redeem

and restore mankind”…

We will:1. Realize that God accepts you

completely without any conditions, and in spite of your sin provides a way back to him.

2. The relational meaning of the incarnation is that you and I are unconditionally loved and accepted.

“Life Change”

“If we truly believe that Jesus was born of a virgin to redeem

and restore mankind”…

We will:4. Reject the pressure to perform

and do our best from a heart of thanksgiving.5. The freedom of being accepted

without conditions produces a relationship that is secure6. The freedom of being accepted

without conditions produces an intimate relationship.

Christ, like you has experienced….

Rejection – even by his own peopleAbandonment – by his own disciples Misunderstanding – by his own followers Ridicule - at his own trial Betrayal – by a close friend Criticism – by the religious leaders of His day Love from those who shared His passion Acceptance from those who really knew Him The joy of a job well done from His Father

Christ can identify with what you are going through and is there for you – this is the relational relevance of the incarnation.

“Life Change”

“If we truly believe that Jesus was born of a virgin to redeem

and restore mankind”…

We will:7. Realize that God’s unconditional

acceptance of us is meant to be expressed towards others.8. Take time to be with people –

accepting others as Christ accepts us requires a time commitment.9. Enter a world that is both

unfamiliar and uncomfortable; separating the sin from the sinner.
