Unsaturated Fatty Alcohols

By 1931, Deutsche Hydrierwerke (DHW)in Rodleben/Germany patented andinitiated the world’s first production offatty alcohols based on the evolvingtechnology of catalytic, high pressurehydrogenation. Based on long time experience in hydro-genation technology, another productline was introduced in 1966. These werethe unsaturated fatty alcohols, whichkeep their unsaturated function duringthe hydrogenation process.In 1998, a new “state of the art” processing plant for unsaturated fattyalcohols went on stream at DHWDeutsche Hydrierwerke GmbH inRodleben. DHW`s unsaturated fattyalcohols are distributed worldwide underthe trade name Rofanol. Their mainapplications occur in solvents ,defoamers, super-fatting agents,plasticisers, oily components and asesters in lubricants.In 1991, DHW was incorporated in theworldwide network of research andproduction facilities of our oleochemicalsgroup. With the creation of EcogreenOleochemicals in 2001, DHW reinforcedits position as a global producer andsupplier of unsaturated fatty alcohols,primary fatty amines, sorbitols and othersugar alcohols as well as of a new rangeof speciality fatty esters and ethers.
