Unofficial Driver Sets Windows 7 64 Bit

Inspiron Laptops

For convenience of updating I have arranged the models by age (the dates correspond to the

earliest BIOS Revision which is approximately the date they were released).

Pre-Vista Systems (Intel)

Inspiron 1200 = Inspiron B120 (07/03/2005)

Inspiron 1300 = Inspiron B130 (18/01/2005)

Inspiron 6000 (05/07/2005)

Inspiron 9100 (19/03/2004)

Inspiron 9200 (01/12/2004)

Inspiron 9300 (24/02/2005)

Inspiron XPS Generation 2 (17/03/2005)

These systems just run Windows 7 at a push. Windows Index Experience = 1.0

The cost of a Windows 7 license and any memory upgrades is probably not justified and I

would recommend purchasing a new system if you can afford it.

These are not 64 bit compatible.

1st generation Vista Systems (Intel) - Media Direct

Inspiron 640m = Inspiron E1405 64 bit (02/05/2006)

Inspiron 6400 = Inspiron E1505 64 bit (20/06/2006)

Inspiron 9400 = Inspiron E1705 64 bit (14/04/2006)

These systems run Windows 7 well. Windows Index Experience ~ 3.2.

These will likely also run Windows 8 without many problems.

64 bit compatibility depends on the processor; many of these systems aren't 64 bit

compatible.

Usable RAM is limited to 3.25 GB in these models so the 32 bit OS is recommended.

This runs Windows 7 well. Windows Index Experience ~ 3.5-4.0

4th generation Vista Systems (Intel)

Inspiron 1318 32 bit (06/11/2008)

Dell fully support Windows 7 64 bit on this model. Windows 7 32 bit drivers weren't

officially released but most of them are available on the Dell FTP website where the 32 bit

driver set was taken from.

5th generation Vista Systems (Intel)

Inspiron 1425 64 bit (05/02/2009)

Inspiron 640m/E1405 – Windows 7 64 Bit

This model and Operating System is not supported by Dell.

Remarks: This system might not run Windows 7 64 bit depending on the processor installed.

Run the Intel Processor Identification utility to confirm.

It is recommended to upgrade it to 4 GB of RAM (3.25 GB usable). This is also unofficial,

the official maximum is 2 GB.

this system with a 64 bit version of Windows 7.

This is a Media Direct system and the Media Direct partition should be setup before installing
