Guided readingIncludes:1. Fluency2. Accuracy3. Expression4. Strategies for unfamiliar words
Reading ComprehensionIncludes:1. Understanding literal and inferential
meaning of a story read to them.2. Understanding the literal and
inferential meaning of a story they read themselves.
Before Reading comes Talking~Tell your child stories…
…stories of when you were younger …stories of when they were younger …stories where they are the heroes ~Sing to your child… …sing old fashioned ballads …sing silly rhyming songs …sing songs and leave out the words…let them
fill in the words~Talk to your child… …talk to them about what you are doing and
why you are doing it …talk to them about their favorites things …talk to them about books you are reading …talk to them about new and fabulous words
