The AD36 is a small portable device that can read the pin codes from system 1 immobilisers fitted with a 6 pin connector and having a Z3Z within the 14 digit immobiliser number. Eg VWZ3Z0T3325023 System 1 consists of a separate immobiliser ECU which controls the recognition of keys and the Engine Management ECU system. SYSTEM IDENTIFICATION To identify the correct system, check to see whether the Dashboard has the following symbol when the ignition is on : SYSTEM 1 : DOES NOT HAVE THE SYMBOL SYSTEM 2 : DOES HAVE THIS SYMBOL

You can either copy the file Vag pin decode - ADD to your computer desktop or run it from the CD provided. Connecting to a PC The tester is fitted with a USB port connector which connects directly into the USB port of a PC. Option 1 - Run directly from CD 1. Put the CD into your PC and view the files on the disc. 2. Double click Vag pin decode - ADD file to open the program at the

appropriate stage in the test process. Option 2 - Copy File to PC 1. Put the CD into your PC and view the files on the disc. 2. Highlight the Vag pin decode - ADD file and copy. 3. Paste the Vag pin decode - ADD file to the desktop of your computer. 4. Double click Vag pin decode - ADD file to open the program at the

appropriate stage in the test process.

1. Remove immobiliser unit from the vehicle.

2. Remove electronic circuit board from the immobiliser box. 3. Connect the Pin Code Reader as follows:

A. USB connector to the PC USB port (power LED will illuminate) B. Connect to the 6 pin socket on the immobiliser

4. Open the Pin Code Reader Program by double clicking the icon on either the CD or your PC.

5. Select the correct COM port from the pull down box. 6. Bridge pins 40 & 41 on the EEPROM. Note: These are the 7th & 8th Pin from the right hand side of the EEPROM

7. Click START on the pc program. 8. Turn the tester on. 9. The green light should flash. When it flashes remove the bridge from pins 40 & 41 Note: If the LED doesn’t flash this indicates either the wrong pins have been bridged or the immobiliser unit is faulty. 10. Please wait as the pin code is being calculated. 11. If the pin code can be calculated from this particular immobiliser unit

then the pin code will be displayed in the window of the pc program. If only a 3 digit pin code is displayed then a 0 should be added to the front of the pin code. Eg: 0895

12. If you want to save the log to your PC then click SAVE LOG.

Or If you want to clear the log to your PC then click CLEAR LOG. 13. Disconnect the VAG pin Reader, re-assemble and refit to the vehicle. 14. You can now program keys into the vehicle using the Advanced Diagnostics Key programming equipment.
