Unlock the Power of Black Women

Black Women’s Empowerment BrunchSaturday, July 20, 2019 • 11 AM • Rocketown

The Black Women’s Empowerment Brunch is an inspiring, high-energy, impactful fundraiser hosted by The Equity Alliance to celebrate the contributions of black women to electoral politics as an influential voting bloc. Last year’s sold-out inaugural event brought together over 400 community leaders, corporate executives, elected officials, and black women from all walks of life. The highlight of the event is our Honorees: black women who have achieved significant accomplishments in the field of politics and governement (Pioneers in Politics Award) or who are doing the necessary work behind the scenes and on-the-ground who may not always receive the recognition they deserve (Unsung Sheroes Award).

Prepare to be wowed at this year’s event, featuring live music and spoken word performances, a powerful keynote speaker, food, mimosas, a cash bar, networking and great conversation - all for a great cause.

As a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization founded and led by black women, this signature event centers black women’s experiences and issues. From the gender pay gap, diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace to infant mortality and maternal health, reproductive justice, and domestic violence, we seek to harness the power of black women, who are a crucial base of reliable voters and have played a deciding role in recent elections.

Invest in Black WomenFounded by black women nearly three years ago, The Equity Alliance’s mission is to proactively advocate for African Americans and other communities of color to have a fair and just opportunity at realizing the American dream. We seek to expand the electorate and remove institutional barriers by equipping citizens with tools and strategies to engage in the civic process and empower them to take action on issues affecting their daily lives.

Through civic engagement, voter registration, and voter education, our work centers on creating a more inclusive, informed, and stronger democracy. We believe that democracy works best when everyone has a chance to participate, has equitable access to the voting booth, and is empowered to be self-determining in making their own choices on who represents their values, interests and issues.
