  • Scott Tobias Associate Director of Bands - Appalachian State University

    Scott C. Tobias currently holds the position of Instructor of Music and Associate Director of Bands in the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University, where he teaches courses in Music Education and serves as the director of the Symphonic Band and the ASU Marching Mountaineers. Mr. Tobias is also responsible for the ASU Concert Band and for the ASU Basketball Band. Prior to coming to Appalachian State University, Mr. Tobias served as the Director ofBands at Sumter High School in Sumter, South Carolina and at Central High School in Macon, Geogia While in Macon, Mr. Tobias also served as the conductor of the Macon Symphony Youth Orchestra.

    Mr. Tobias received the Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Furman University and the Master of Music Education degree from the University of Georgia He is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Conducting from the University of Georgia.

    Bands under Mr. Tobias' direction have performed nationally at events such as the National Adjudicators Invitational, the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival, the University of Georgia January Festival, the Western Intern~tional Clinic, and the University of South Carolina Band Clinic. Mr. Tobias has been awarded the "Citation of Excellence" from the National Band Association on two occasions and has been named to Who:S Who AmongAmerica:S Teachers on four separate occasions. In 2003, Mr. Tobias was awarded the Appalachian State University Student GovemmentAssociation's Outstanding Faculty Member Award.

    In addition to his duties at Appalachian State University, Mr. Tobias also serves as the Conductor of the Appalachian Youth Wmd Ensemble and President ofthe Southern Conference Band Directors Association. He remains active as an adjudicator and clinician throughout the Southeast. His professional affiliations include the Music Educators National Conference, World Association ofSymphonic Bands and Ensembles, College Band Directors National Association, Pi Kappa Lambda, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia

    Lori Falcone Director of Bands - Lincoln Southwest High School

    Lori Payne Falcone is in her second year as Director ofBands at Lincoln Southwest High School in Lincoln, Nebraska. Last year, she was a Graduate TeachingAssistant for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln band program. Prior to this, she was the Director ofMusic at Palmyra Jr.-Sr. High School in Nebraska. She was the Director of Bands and Choirs at Prairie Grove Junior and Senior High Schools in Arkansas. In Virginia, she was the Director of Bands and Choirs at Luray High School and Assistant Director at Seneca Ridge Middle School in Sterling. At Luray, she won the Rooke Teacher of the Year and the Teacher of the Year awards.

    Mrs. Falcone has been on faculty for summer camps at Truman State University, the University ofArkansas-Fayetteville, and the University ofNebraska-Lincoln. She keeps a busy schedule as an adjudicator, guest conductor and clinician. In addition to teaching, she is active as a percussionist, pianist, and organist.

  • John Woger Director ofBands - Menomonee Falls North Junior High School

    John Woger is the Director of Bands at Menomonee Falls North Junior High in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, a position he has held since 1990. He is also the K12 Music Department chair for the Falls district. Mr. Woger conducts the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Pep Band, and Marching Band. The excellence ofthe Menomonee Falls Band program was honored by being named the first runner up in the America School Band Directors Association Dale C. Harris Exemplary Award. The Menomonee Falls North Bands and Jazz Ensembles have participated in clinicswith many ofthe finest names in music education. Guestcliniciansinclude the Millar Brass Ensemble with Vmcent Chichowicz and Doc Severinsen.

    Mr. Woger is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and has graduate credits from Carroll CotJege, Lake Silver College, Marian CoUegeand the University ofWmsconsin-MiIwaukee. This is Mr. Woger's second opportunity to conduct at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Honors Band festival. He was honored with the Herb Kohl Teacher Fellowship in 1999 and Menomonee Falls North Teacher of the Year Award in 1996. He is listed in the 2002 edition of Who's Who Among America's Teachers. Mr. Woger is an accomplished trumpeter and has performed with many groups including the Wisconsin Wmd Orchestra, the Waukesha Area Symphonic Band, the Bach Chamber Choir Orchestra, and many jazz ensembles throughout the Milwaukee area. Mr. Woger is also active as a guest conductor, lecturer and clinician.
