Citaons per PaperThis rao measures the average number of citaons obtained per publicaon, and is an esmate of the impact andquality of the scienfic work done by universies. Data indexed by Scopus is also used. To avoid anomalous results, onlythe instuons producing more than 150 papers in the last five years are evaluated. The paper and citaon counts arenormalized, ensuring that citaons achieved in each of the five broad faculty areas are weighted equally.
Faculty StudentThis is the rao between the number of academic staff and number of students. A higher number of teachers perstudent is an indirect indicator of the commitment of the instuons to high-quality teaching.
Papers per FacultyThis indicator seeks to determine the average number of scienfic publicaons (papers) produced per faculty andevaluates the producvity of research instuons. Data is extracted from Scopus (www.scopus.com). Indexed papers inthe last five full years are used (from 2011 to 2015 for the 2018 edion). The paper count is normalized, ensuring thatcitaons achieved in each of the five broad faculty areas are weighted equally.
Web ImpactThis indicator seeks to assess the effecveness with which instuons are making use of new technologies. Baselineinformaon is provided by the Ranking Web of Universies (www.webometrics.info), although the results are refactoredto exclude the Excellence indicator, which is already considered in the metrics related to scienfic research.
Staff with PhDThis indicator aempts to assess the quality of training of the academic staff, detecng the proporon of them that havereached the highest level of educaon in their area of experse. This is an indirect measure of the commitment ofuniversies to high-quality teaching and research.
Internaonal StudentsThe Internaonal Students Index is based on the proporon of students that are internaonal. It is a proxy measure forhow internaonally aracve the university is to students.
Internaonal FacultyThe Internaonal Faculty Index is simply based on the proporon of faculty members that are internaonal. It is a proxymeasure for how internaonally aracve the university is to academic staff.
