To commemorate the world famous speech delivered by Swami Vivekananda on 11th September, 1893 at Chicago in the world parliament of religions, Universal Brotherhood Day was cele-brated by Vivekananda Kendra Delhi Vibhag at different places in the month of September. September month was celebrated as the Brotherhood Month.

11 September is celebrated as Universal Brotherhood Day - the Day on which Swami Vivekananda gave the world-famous speech in 1893 at Chicago in the World Parliament of Religions. He gave the golden words – “Brothers and Sisters of America”, which became the epitome of Universal Brotherhood.

On 16th Septemebr 2010 the event was organized at Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Management and Research, Paschim Vihar, Delhi. The event was conducted with a talk by Sh Mukul Kanitkar and a slogan writing competition on Brother-hood. Around 200 students and faculty members of the institute participated in the event.

On 13th September 2010 Universal Brotherhood Day was celebrated

at Kaveri Hostel, JNU campus. The event was organized with a talk on “Key to leadership: Swami Vivekananda” by Sh Mukul Kanitkar. Around 70 students participated in the event.

Vivekananda Kendra Delhi in association with NSS (National Service Scheme) Hansraj College, University of Delhi, celebrated this event on Wednesday, 22nd September 2010 at 1P.M. at College Auditorium. The event started with brotherhood band performance by Volunteers of NSS. Peace ribbon was distributed among all the students and faculty members. Around 500 students and faculty members from Hansraj college and Various other colleges of North cam-pus participated in the func-tion. On this event Major General G.D.Baxi, A Kargil War Hero delivered a talk on “PATRIOTISM: An Essential for the Nation”. A Slogan Writing competition on Brotherhood was organ-ized, Graffiti on brotherhood was made at the entrance of the venue and A Brotherhood Tree was made with flags of all countries of world as a mark of Universal brotherhood. The event took place from 1.30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
