Dear Mum and Dad,How are you? I am exhausted! I have just trekked all the way to the Everest base camp. It took fifteen days. First (1) I flew on a small plane from Kathmandu to Lukla. I met other trekkers and (2) we all walked together. We had porters who carried our backpacks because they were so heavy and (3)

they cooked for us. We had a Nepalese guide who showed us the way. We slept in tents. It was very cold sleeping in (4) them.

Every morning we woke up at 6 a.m. After breakfast at 7 a.m. we started trekking. We stopped for a lunch break at 11 a.m. We trekked in the afternoon until 3 p.m. The scenery was stunning. It’s the best view I have ever seen.

When we reached the Everest base camp, it was amazing looking up at Everest. Wow! I felt on top of the world. I had altitude sickness because we were so high. I couldn’t get enough oxygen. But I did get to 5430m which is even higher than Mt. Kinabalu.

The cooks did a good job and I had a chance to taste the local ‘dhal baht’ which is a lentil soup eaten with rice. (5) It was not bad, but I do miss your mee goreng, Mum.

What an experience! Off to Egypt next.
