UNITED WAY OF DANE COUNTY PRESENTS
Community sponsor
Presenting sponsor Supporting sponsor
Through this year’s campaign we set out
to generate the dollars and volunteers
to change lives in our community. And
thanks to your support, we’re succeeding.
We’re ensuring a strong United Way for
Dane County. That means families will
secure stable housing, kids will receive
support in school and adults will
achieve jobs with sustainable incomes.
Tonight is all about recognizing what we accomplished together. We’ll showcase
the people from across companies, government, agencies or just individually
who made our campaign goals a reality. This event highlights those who united to
ignite the power of many working for all.
“People helping people” is our core philosophy at CUNA Mutual Group. We’re
proud to partner with United Way. They share our passion for creating economic
stability in the communities we serve, and our dedication to helping people
achieve financial security.
Thank you for your generous support and for joining us this evening. You’ve
shown your true commitment to our community. Consider continuing your
support going forward. The need remains and United Way has responded with
year-round volunteer opportunities. As we all know, every hour, every dollar
changes a life in Dane County.
Robert N. Trunzo President and CEO, CUNA Mutual Group 2017 United Way of Dane County Campaign Chair

AND THE 2017
people's choice
innovation awarD recipient is
Summit Credit Union
Summit Credit Union held special events throughout their locations to generate excitement for the campaign, but by far the most
innovative event brought virtual reality to their employees! The campaign team facilitated a virtual reality simulation of the
new corporate office. Every employee was able to “walk” through the new building using virtual reality glasses for a $5 donation.
A creative approach to raising resources for Dane County!
The People’s Choice Innovation Award recipient is chosen by the Dane County community. It celebrates one organization’s commitment to raising awareness and resources during the campaign. Past recipients have found unique ways to increase new donors and the generosity needed to advance our community’s Agenda for Change.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE 2017 PEOPLE’S CHOICE INNOVATION AWARD NOMINEES!
American GirlIn addition to leveraging tried and true best practices, American Girl has worked on changing its culture to be more philanthropic. From year round special events to donating American Girl merchandise – they have been making a difference in our community. They are true partners who are bringing innovation year round!
Festival Foods In only its second year in Madison, Festival Foods has proven to be an innovative and enthusiastic corporate partner! They leveraged their vendors for much of the campaign to raffle off promotional items to customers or employees. Festival Foods also bought United Way t-shirts for employees to wear and made them available for purchase to customers at a mark up. We can’t wait to see what they’ll do next year!
Sentry InsuranceThe team at Sentry Insurance displayed tremendous enthusiasm, spirit and creativity with numerous special events. Sentry found keeping events light-hearted and fun while thanking staff with office-wide celebrations results in increased giving year over year. Monthly fundraisers maintain a spirit of giving year-round. This has grown campaign results and resulted in employees who are more engaged and connected with one another and with the community.
Zimbrick, Inc. Zimbrick has been a wonderful partner, living campaign best practices every year. This year they brought enthusiasm, commitment, organization and efficiency to 17 rallies, multiple company wide-events, and an innovative “Motorcycle Poker Run” event. Zimbrick hosted a huge recognition event for their Key Club members – with everyone going home with a raffle prize. Zimbrick feels like a family, and we are so thankful for this family’s generosity to the community.
