The Herbert R. Brown Society
STRONG FOUNDATION Founded in 2001, The Herbert R. Brown Society (HRBS) engages leaders in the African American community as a “gathering of givers” working together to improve the region while leaving a legacy of collective philanthropy.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENTIn 2012, 138,800 African Americans received services in education, income and health: United Way’s focus areas to advance the common good. HRBS members continue to engage in activities throughout the community to support this work.
COLLECTIVE IMPACTStrengthen the collective impact in our community through events and activities where you can:
Connect with top leaders in our region Enjoy personal and professional development opportunities
Volunteer on projects addressing targeted needs Promote equity and inclusion
JOIN THE MOVEMENT Become a member of HRBS. African American individuals or couples who make a gift of $1,000 or more to United Way, or commit to the Step-Up program, are invited to join. With the Step-Up program, you can incrementally increase your gift over a three-year period while enjoying membership
right away. For more information, visit www.uwgc.org/Leaders or call 513-762-7207.
Sankofa“go back and fetch it”We must look back to the past so that we
may understand how we have become what
we are, and move forward to a better future.
