Samples Of My Poetry For United Press

From Ten Of The Best

My Hotmail Wasn't Working

My Hotmail wasn't working and we weren't working. You didn't know what I was thinking, and I didn't know if you were thinking about me like I was thinking about you. And I couldn't connect to you because I swapped the digits on your phone number. I put a one where the zero should be and a zero where the one should be So you couldn't get my message and anyway it wasn't a good message. And anyway you were out of the country. And when you came back I was relieved and I breathed but I still couldn't talk to you and I don't remember why.Oh yes, I do remember why, I was feeling neglected, as if I was your wife and we had a life together. So I left in the snow, o there was no snow then, but it felt like snow I was so cold. And I went home to do more sadness and more worry.I prayed but God's love couldn't penetrate the foolish pain. And I couldn't relax until I connected with you again. And we did, though it was half connection, then I realised I did have your number after all,and that you didn't neglect my call.Nevertheless we had a minor tiff,so I left in a huff in a powder puff of snow, there wasn't long to go. So I did go home to think a little less, well a little less about you in a bad way.I started to think of you a little in a good way.And if you treat me well, I'll think about you a lot more in a good way. You don't know it yet, but my love is here to stay.

Size Zero Size zero in the developing worldmeans something different there. Here it is beauty. There it is poverty.

From Festival Of Poetry

Waiting

I won’t make the first move, even though you move as slow as a snail.I’m not going to tell you how I feel.not until you’re willing to gowith what you feel.I don’t mind the fact that we’reboth hesitating. That we’re both waiting.Because our love has burst like pollenAnd its dust has settled on the surface of our skin. Our love cannot be hidden within. Our love is an everlasting painting, and one day we will reach the centreand become centred.

From Poems With Meaning

Divine Love

There’s stillness when we are together,a kind of stillness that exists outside time,a kind of stillness that is divine. When we are together the angels hold their breath. But we are breathing for each other. We join the kindness of one another. We see each other as pure others, where external coverings like clothes don’t matter.

From Homeland

This Is London

I went on holiday to the Lake District one year.I came back to London,

I came back home.I knew I was back because the air changed. It became electrified. I went somewhere where I danced to great music.A man smiled at me and I smiled back. I knew I was in London because nobody’s eyes opened slightly wider because I was a different colour.Everyone was different, and I felt like I belonged.
