Local visitors interested in learning about our church and its programs are encouraged to stop at the Welcome Center in the narthex to pick up a visitor bag. Today’s altar flowers were given by Jim and Jane Clark in celebration of their 55th wedding anniversary! From Karen Genson, United Methodist Women President The June Ladies’ Lunch Date is planned for Tuesday, June 25 at noon in Stearns Park. Bring your own jacket, sun-glasses and lunch with you (beverage and brown bag from home or carryout from somewhere, etc.) Alternate rain location will be Fellowship Hall at church. About 10 to 15 ladies have been attending. Call the office by Monday, June 24 if you can to sign up so that we know who is coming in case weather misbehaves. Don’t let the lack of a reservation keep you away, though! Come and enjoy! Christian Art on Display. You are invited to visit the Sunday School bulletin board in the Christian Education hall-way. The children had a good time with our Pentecost theme. We used the wind to bring flames over the heads of the Apos-tles. How did we do this? Using glazed finger paint paper, a straw and an eyedropper we blew a drop of yellow, orange and red tempura paint across the paper. Once the paint dried the flames were cut out and placed over the faces on the board. To symbolize all the different languages spoken the faces are of different colors. You can read about Pentecost in Acts 2:1-41. Submitted by Betty Tabor

You Are Needed! The Rug Ladies:

A few ladies from our United Methodist Women group meet once a week for a couple hours and cut donated fabric into strips; which are then sewn together, rolled into balls, and woven into our beautiful rugs! We reserve a spot every year at the Gold Coast Craft Show and put the rugs on display for sale. The proceeds are donated to several local organizations during the Christmas season; such as Salvation Army, C.O.V.E., Habitat for Humanity, and Hospitality, INC., to name just a few. We meet on Wednesday mornings, usually 9:30-11:30. Please join us for coffee, treats, and giggles, and come “cut a rug”! If you have any questions, please call Monica Stewart at 425-3253 or Marcia Olmstead at 843-4363.

Do you have a heart for sharing prayers and encouragement to others? Do you have a gift for those prayers and words

of encouragement to be put into writing to be shared with women who are incarcerated.? If so, SK Osborn wants to talk with you. The Kairos Prison Ministry is a national prison ministry program modeled after the Walk to Emmaus spiritual four-day journey. There is a Kairos weekend September 15-18, 2019 at the women's prison in the State of Washington that needs "agape letters" for the women in the program. It is simply sharing a scripture or words of Christian love, grace and encouragement to the ladies. It can be as little or as much as you are led to share. There are specific guidelines that must be met regarding what can and cannot be said and done, how to address the ladies, the type of cards that can be used, etc. If you or a small group would like to take this on- SK has all the information. 34 cards are required and each one can be ex-actly the same. There is a deadline of August 23, 2019 to have them in the SK’s hands. SK will be responsible for the bulk mailing. If anyone is interested in participating in a prayer vigil that weekend, contact SK Osborn (360-620-9687) for details and signup. Blessings in advance, SK

Hiking for Hospitality Do you believe that the Lord has been able to minister to some of His struggling children through Hospitality INC? Would you be willing to help empower this effort to share God’s love and concern? Please stop by the poster in the narthex to pledge any amount to support this mission to some of the “least” of His beloved ones. Thank you for considering this plea from your Mission Committee.

Prayer Warriors are needed on Tuesday mornings! We continue to have a dedicated group of people in our prayer group; however with sickness, appointments, and other obligations our group has grown smaller. Praying for our church and our church family is a privilege and a blessing for sure. Come and join us when you can and know that the Holy Spirit is always present to help us pray for the many needs before us. The power of prayer is great and know that most of you have experienced it. “The prayers of the righteous are powerful and effective.” (James 5:10) We meet at 9:30 in the church library. Submitted by Lynne Gohn

We need help with the “once-a-month coffee and cookie group” that prepares for the fellowship in the narthex be-fore Sunday worship services. If you can help, please contact Avery (“Benny”) and Jane Benedict or Pat and Stub Wil-

lick, or call the church office at 843-8340. Also needed:

• Someone to learn the Church Treasurer job to back up Arnold Burke

• Someone to count people at the 9:30 am service on Sundays

• An Administrative Board Secretary

• A Membership Secretary

• Youth Board Volunteers. For information about these volunteer jobs please see Pastor Dennis.

Vacation Bible School: To Mars and Beyond! “Glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us!” (Ephesians 3:20) Next meeting is Tuesday, June 25 at 4 pm in the library -

We need you there! Time to pull all of this together. Known needs now: lava lamps, cylinder-type vacuum cleaner (to decorate into robot for the week of VBS), large clear tube (to look like time-machine transporters), and any other ideas that fill the theme of space travel. Please, helpers, come in and fill out forms for getting vetted. When working with children we must do this every year and it takes time to get this done. We now have about 15 people and we need at least 35 more. Please call the office (843-8340) as soon as possible and let us know if you can help. We all have great fun. Join us. We’re a great group of people! As you can see, this year’s scripture is part of our prayer. Thank you. Judy Downing

Lay Readers and Communion Servers Needed on a Regular Basis

Allan Carlson, Monica Stewart and I spend a lot of our time trying to reach those of you who have been willing to help us with our worship services each week as liturgist and Communion servers. However, we almost never catch anyone at home to tell us whether they can or will help us. We are now asking you to help us save hours of time on the phone trying to reach each one of you. Those of you who are comfortable reading Scripture out loud from the Bible at the lectern and know in advance which Sun-days you are available please do us a favor and let us know. The 11:00 am service has the psalm and the opening prayer (you can do your own or we can help you find one.) We need liturgists for each Sunday at 9:30 am and 11:00 am and Communion servers at least the first Sunday of each month at 9:30 am and 11:00 am. There are other special times of the Christian year we will still be calling you. And if you help us fill up the year all we then need to do is call to remind you. I am most willing to help you know how to pronounce some of the words and names, how to use a microphone, what to say as servers and any other needs you may have. You will not be left alone without a support system. We especially encour-age families to be servers together. Do Allan, Monica and myself a favor. Give us a call at 843-8340 with a list of dates you are available and what you are willing to do. Thank you. Judy Downing

A woman from Ludington needs a regular ride to Meijer’s during the summer months because the LMTA bus no longer goes there. Please call Sue Wilson at 425-3111 if you can help. Callers should be female.

Friends, I am so glad you enjoyed the presentation given by Dawn and Bob Brown Sunday, June 9. The school they are supporting in Haiti is successful but constantly needing funds, great and small. On the other side of this page is a list of

needs and the monthly costs. I became involved with this program through Dave Hamman. Dave got to know Felinord and encouraged me to put him through HS. I did that, then Dawn hired him as a teacher when he graduated, and now I pay his salary each month. He texts me occasionally just to say “hi” or to thank me. One day I want to go to Haiti and meet him. If interested, Dawn has her business cards on the office counter or you can call me if you are interested or have questions. Thanks, Darlene Ponko
