Center of Hope is starting a new program for those kids in the
Juvenile Justice System, called "AIM". It is a 16 week course, on
Mondays, starting on June 5th, going through the end of Septem-
ber...the kids gather at 5 to eat a meal; and then are to be in class
promptly at 6. They are asking churches or groups (such as a Sun-
day School class, or anyone who is
interested) to help provide meals for these kids. The class will be
limited to 15 kids. Laura told us some of these kids have never had
the privilege of sitting down at home to a home cooked dinner (such
as tator tot casserole, salad, green beans, rolls and dessert). If you
are interested in helping with this new ministry for one or several of
these Mondays, please contact Laura Brownlow at the Center of
Hope, her cell # is 940/452-2048.

The Baptismal Covenant is God’s Word to us, proclaiming our adoption by grace, and our word to God, promising our response of faith and love. Baptism initiates us into Christ’s whole Church and not only into a denomination. The United Methodist Church recognizes all Christian baptisms. United Methodists may baptize by any of the modes used by Christians. Candidates or their parents have the choice of sprinkling, pouring or immersion. Persons of any age are suitable candidates for baptism. On the day of Pentecost, Peter preached: “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children” (Acts 2:38-39)
Those baptized before they are old enough to take the vows for themselves make their personal profession of faith in a service called confirmation.
After confirmation, or after baptism when candidates take the vows for themselves, Christians are encouraged to reaffirm their Baptismal Covenant.
