Established in 2006, United Mining Industries Limited (UMI) is a Saudi Arabian joint-venture of three of the Saudi leading companies in construction and building industry. We have been able to carve a niche in the domain of producing a �awless range of Gypsum Products for use in local and regional markets, providing quality solutions for residential and commercial development. In addition to our dedicated quarries, our facilities include a 114.000 M2 facility in Yanbu which comprises the head of�ce, gypsum powder plant, gypsum board plant, warehouse and support facilities, with an annual production capacity ranging from 20 million m2 up to 22 million m2.

What is Gypsum Board?

It is the generic name for a family of panel-type products consisting of a noncombustible core, primarily of gypsum, with a paper surfacing on the face, back, and long edges. It is called drywall, wallboard, or plasterboard and differs from other similar products such as plywood, hardboard, and �berboard.

Gypsum is a mineral found in sedimentary rock formations in a crystalline form known as calcium sulfate dihydrate. One hundred kg of the gypsum rock contains approximately 21 kg (or 10 quarts) of chemically combined water. This rock is mined or quarried and then crushed. The crushed rock is then ground into a �ne powder and heated to about 177 C driving off three fourths of the chemically combined water in a process called calcination. The calcined gypsum (or hemi hydrate) is then used as the base for gypsum plaster, gypsum board, PVC facing gypsum ceiling, and other gypsum products.

A UNIQUE DIVERSITY

Our Gypsum Board Plant is considered the biggest in KSA, offering high quality gypsum board in a variety of types and sizes. The complete line products are characterized by ultra bending strength, ultra bonding strength between the paper and core, smooth and uniform surface and lightweight. Products listed below can be used in a wide range of applications including wall partitions, wall lining and ceilings.

All gypsum board types come in tapered, beveled and square edges. Their thicknesses are 9.5mm, 12.5mm, 15.0mm, 16.0mm, and 18.0mm, while their length from 1800mm to 4000mm. They can be used as a dry lining to help in �re resistance and sound insulation. They can be cut as per required and �xed with nails.

PARTITION SYSTEMBeing reliable, cost-effective and fast to install, gypsum boards are used for partitions in commercial and residential buildings. They are lightweight with a very low impact on the load-bearing structure of the building, and they can easily adapt to the movements of the building. They are ideal for the construction of high-rise buildings as they act as versatile systems to meet major requirements such as �re-resistance, and sound & thermal insulation. They can be applied with minimum accessories to provide for effective transportation and labor cost.
