Definition Of Digital Texts.

E-text is electronic text. It’s something you see but can’t hold or feel. It is also classed as software or a virtual program. For example a book on an iPad that you read the text, but can’t actually feel it. Or it can be a poster but it’s digital so you can’t feel it, you see digital posters near bus stops or the tube promoting McDonald’s.

Digital texts explanation

Digital comics- Digital comics are better because they won’t rip at all when collecting them since they are digital and they don’t take space up in your home, and you won’t worry about them getting damaged.

E-Magazines- Magazines are online and have links that take you over to adverts or more information about the page your reading and doesn’t take space in your home.

E-books are better because it’s easier to read them online and collect without them taking up a lot of space at your house.

E-Newspapers are better because you can just subscribe online to a website where they give newspapers out, collect them and then you don’t have to go to a shop and buy them. When you subscribe to a website where they give newspapers it’s £10 a month and maybe you missed a day you can go back and just read it when it isn’t on sale anymore.

E-leaflet are easier to write online and send to people because you wouldn’t waste as much time writing them on paper and then sending them via email, easy to copy a lot of them at once and give them away.

Explaining Analogue Hardware

Analogue hardware is hardware that you can feel and touch. Analogue hardware is used for many things. Like a printer to print out sheets with texts and pictures. Or a console to play video games. Another example would be when you play a PlayStation 4 and insert a disc and use a controller to control the game and enjoy!

Digital Software

Digital Software is a program like a virtual program you download onto a analogue hardware like a computer or a console, a game you download counts as digital software that you launch and play on your analogue hardware.

Another example would be an App on your phone like Instagram which you download from the App store if you have an IPhone, Instagram is social media where people post pictures and pictures get rated and also Direct Messaging each other. It’s a virtual program that you can see but not touch.

Digital comic- A digital comic is better than an ordinary comic because you can keep a collection without losing it or it getting damaged, and taking up to much space and the digital copy never gets damaged and you can keep a big collection without it taking space.

Digital newspapers- A digital newspaper is different to a physical one because digital ones you can subscribe to which is around £10 a month and daily you would get newspapers. If you forget to buy one on that you can go on the website and read it.

Digital brochures are better because you don’t have to print out a ton and give them away and a lot of them will go to waste since not everyone will be interested in your business or work, if they go to your site because they want to know about the work or business more so then you can post a brochure there and job done and you spend less money, and you could fit more information online and links.

Digital construction manuals are better than normal manuals because you don’t have to waste paper and digital ones could be done in motion, and it’s easier to access them online. They could show you more detail and it could show moving pictures because sometimes printed out manuals you might not understand as well.

Digital leaflet- Are known to just be given out to random people but in my opinion it’s a waste of paper since not everyone will be interested in your leaflet. In my opinion if people are interested in something like a hairdresser shop they should go on your website and go and check your leaflet out there and you could add more information and links that send you to different sources.

Digital magazine- Digital magazines are not as uncommon today but they have more advantages. For example when you have a physical magazines what you is what you get but when you have a digital one every page that it advertises something it has a link to the site and more information about it which waste less pages and less paper.

Digital newsletter- Digital newsletters are like letter sent to someone because of new news or something like that. Newsletters are now known to be send via email since it’s a lot easier to make them, post pictures and other things like links for example.

Advantages of digital vs. traditional texts

Digital devices can have access to more content on one device but traditional texts only have limited access.

Digital devices are more interactive like magazines have links to other articles that help the magazine advertise better.

Digital devices can let you access and read more things with out a fuss but traditional texts you have to go out to many places to get what you want and spend more money.

It’s more profitable since companies can make more money and update it any time they want but traditional texts you can’t update it.

You can keep a big collection of digital texts without it taking up physical space in your house, it will only take space in your phone memory.

iCloud backup is where everything gets stored digitally and backup just in case anything happens to your device.

Disadvantages of digital vs. traditional texts

Needs internet but if you have the traditional version of the text you don’t need anything to access it.

Need a device that can show digital texts but to show traditional texts you don’t need anything except for example a book or a magazine.

The battery could run out but traditional texts don’t need batteries. A lot of the new devices cost a lot of money but traditional texts don’t cost as much as new devices. Some content is not available in the stores but you can get any traditional texts even if it’s rare but

you only have to look at the right place. Memory could run out if you have to many things downloaded at once but traditional texts you can

always find a place for them.
