Unit 4, 5 and 62 – DiaryFirst I started my project by opening the Adobe Elements which is the editing software I am going to use. I then saved the project to a suitable destination. After that I clicked Get media > Files and Folders then I found all of my footage and imported it into the library.

After that I dragged the first content into the timeline box in order to create a start to my promotional video. After that I viewed the scenes in timeline and right clicked the clip and added a fade in effect.

After that I selected the scene and opened the ‘Pan and Zoom tool’ when I opened this I could create a panning effect across the logo by moving the window across simulating the movement I wish it to do.

Then I add the next clip onto the timeline however it was too long, therefore I needed to cut out some of it in order for it to flow appropriate. I started by dragging the clip onto the sceneline, then I opened the timeline and double clicked it to open it in a new window, after that I clicked where I wanted to make a cut and clicked set in.

Now I want to add a transition between these two clips therefore I open the transitions panel and the scene line and drag on a dissolve effect to the transition box. This will allow a smooth transition to the next scene instead of a block change of footage scene.

Next I find some more footage in my library and I drag it onto the sceneline so that I can clip it correctly so that my video runs smoothly. However there are a few elements in this clip which I want

to use therefore I drag it on a few times then each time I open the clip in a new window to clip the footage by selecting a point and clicking set in and set out to cut the filming.

Also when adding the footage I right click it and delete the audio due to mine and Tre’s voice being overheard.

After placing these clips together they already transitioned quite smoothly due to all of the filming being in the same room, same lighting, etc. therefore I didn’t need to add any transitions or effects.

Now its time to start my next scene, I do this by dragging my clip onto the sceneline then again I opened it in a new window and cut the filming to only show the footage that I want by selecting a time and clicking set in and set out.

Also because I have started a new scene I am going to add a transition so the footage runs smoothly, I do this by opening the sceneline view and then the Edit > Transitions panel and dragging the film dissolve effect onto the panel.

After that I again proceeded to add more footage, I also deleted the audio and cut the clip so that I only showed the footage I wanted to.

Now its time for my next scene therefore again I will add a dissolve transition to my clips so the footage runs smoothly.

I then again started another scene cutting my footage and dragging it onto the sceneline then deleting the audio, and because it’s a new scene I added a film dissolve transition. I carried out the same process for the rest of adding my footage to the video. Now its time to add the footage from my interviews therefore when I import this footage I still cut it where I want to delete unwanted sections however I don’t delete the audio.

I inserted my first interview clip then I selected the text tool and created the question which the student is answering. After that I went on the text animation panel and applied a ‘Focus out’ animation onto the text so that is fades onto the screen and makes it look a little more professional.

I pretty much carried out the same process for my other interview clips however inbetween each interviewee I added a dissolve effect to create a smooth transition.

After that I added the final scene which was the same as the opening scene of the logo animation, I did this by just copy and pasting the clip and dragging it to the end of the scenes, then I added a text over saying ‘thank you for watching’ just to add a nice ending to the video.

Then I imported my soundtrack to the library which I did using the same process as importing my footage, through the get media panel. Then I dragged it onto the timeline and cut it where needed so that it is in sync with the video and doesn’t over power the sound of the interviews using a fade in fade out effect.

Exporting my project:Now I have completed the editing of my promotional video it is time to export it as appropriate file formats for the World Wide Web, DVD and a presentation. There is a wide range of formats to

choose from in order to give the best outcome for my purpose. I started the exporting process by clicking on the share panel which brings up various options of ways and purposes of your export, for example, if you were to upload straight to the web then the ‘Online’ method is the best to choose from.

I start my process by clicking the ‘Computer’ method to save in my files, clicking on this opens a new menu where I can choose the file format and the file name, also where to save it to.

I gave it an appropriate file name and selected the MPEG PAL DVD standard as I am exporting for a DVD purpose, then I selected the appropriate file to save to so that I can find it easily once exported.

After that I clicked save and the video started to export, however due to its file size it took a few minutes to do.

I did pretty much the same procedure for my Web and presentation formats by just choosing the different options in the share panel and selecting the appropriate file format for the video, it was a fairly simple task to carry out.
