Literature research is the most common research that is used in the world this involves talking to people, surveys, focus groups and so on.

The most common research that I have found is also literature research this is because it is the most easiest research to go from.

QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE RESEARCH

quantitative research includes of surveys and customer questionnaires, this is so it can help firms to improve on their product by using the information given to them by using quantitative research.

Qualitative research is a method that is used in different academic disciplines, manly in social sciences also in market research and in further contexts

WHAT IS BETTER FOR FINDING OUT INFORMATION

I believe that the best way of researching information is by using the internet. This was proven when we had to wright 10 questions about media by using a textbook to find out the answer. We then had to swap the questions over and then answer someone else 10 questions by using the internet. It was easer to use the internet another good thing about the internet is that it can be regally updated. Although the internet is fast you can never know if the information you are getting is right. This one of the reasons why a textbook is a good thing is that there is other peoples opinion on the subject. However although there are good points to having a textbook there are also bad for example, they might not be updated as much and if you are using an old book in the new one there could be more information that hasen’ t been added.

The internet or text book

Page 13: Unit 3 media research

SECONDARY & PRIMARY RESEARCH Secondary research includes looking at

film reviews and finding out what improvements that they suggested for the film genre we are looking at doing

Another set of research that I will be conducting is primary research, this includes me doing surveys, interviews and focus groups.

I have already conducted a survey

SOCIAL NETWORKINGSECONDARY RESEARCH

YouTube: is a social networking site that allows people to upload and shear things. Can be used for secondary research as it is a place where you can put videos of anything on the website, which could allow people to see your trailer and see what thy think of it by sing how many people have commented, liked or disliked or even watched it.

Page 17: Unit 3 media research

PRIMARY For my primary research I will be

conducting a range of surveys. I have already done a small one that I have conducted within my class. However my new one will have a range of questions that will help determine what film will be the best to create.

Another way of primary research is by doing a focus group. This will be done after the survey to tighten up any loos ends when it comes to some of the answers I have been given on my survey.

Page 18: Unit 3 media research

SOCIAL NETWORKING PRIMARY RESEARCH Facebook: is a place where you can share

your life story. Can be used as primary research as it is a place to get opinions, you could just have the trailer on the screen and see how many people like it and see the comments of the films.

Twitter: is where you can share funny things that has happened in your life. Twitter can be used for the same reason as it is a way to get the world talking about a new film, you could also get the worlds opinion on the film as well.

FILM PITCH Over the past couple of weeks I have been conducting a range of research to decide what type of film is best suited for your company.

Firstly I started with some secondary research, this resulted in me going onto the website IMBD http://www.imdb.com/ and looking at the films that have been selected to have been the best film and genre made in 2012. The genre that came up as being the best of 2012 was action. This has been backed up as the film Django Unchained was voted the number one film of 2012 on the website IMBD.

I then went on to find the best actors and actress; I went onto 2013s Oscar nominations to find the best actor and actress that were voted by the public. http://oscar.go.com/mypicks. As I was looking at this website I found that it would be best to pick all three and then let the public decide using my primary research to see which one they thought was the best actors and actress. My findings led me to find that Bradley Cooper, Hugh Jackman and Denzel Washington where up for the best actor. Whereas Anne Hathaway, Jenifer Lawrence and Naomi Watts where up for the best actress. I then went on to find a director and I thought that I would look at directors that have produced a range of films that have won awards and are an all feel good films. The directors that I chose where Steven Spielberg, Justin Lin and Michael Bay.  Lastly I looked on YouTube to see what comments the trailers for similar films got.

Once I had finished my secondary research I then went on to look at my primary research. I did this by conducting a survey, a focus group and asking questions on social networking sights such a Twitter and Facebook.

For my survey I asked 10 questions to 9 different people 4 which were male and 5 that where female.

With the results for my survey I can see that the majority of people liked romantic comedy/ action films. The results told me that Bradley Copper and Anne Hathaway where seen as being the best actor and actress of this generation. When I looked at the results of the directors I was surprised with the outcome. The director that was picked by the public was Justin Lin, Justin Lin was the man who directed all of the fast and furious films and is going to be directing the 7 th next year. Although he was chosen by the public I believe that he is not the man to direct the film you want to make. For my next question I asked how people liked to watch their films. The majority of the public said that they like a film that they could watch with friends and family or on their own. So this means that we will have to make a film that is suitable for all the family.

I then went on to do my focus group and hear is my results. My results for my focus group where that the best genre is between action comedy and horror. I also found out that the best way people like to watch their films is in the cinema because it brings a good atmosphere, also with friends so that they can have a good time laughing at a film. Lastly I found out that what makes a film memorable is if it has a good story line and actors that can act in the way you want them to.

Lastly when I looked at the social networking sights I asked people like would they want to watch a film that had a certain genre, I got some replies but not many that I used the findings.

So by using all of the research that I have provides for your company, I can see that you need to make a film that is family friendly so a 12A rating, to have a film that falls into the genre category of romantic comedy and action combined such as 21 Jump Street. Although my results say that the public like the director Justin Lin believe that he is not the right person to direct this film, this is because he is not experienced in the romantic side of the film industry. So I have decided that the best director for the film that you want to make is Steven Spielberg, this is because he has directed many films that fall under the categories of romance, comedy and action such as Paul (comedy) the adventures of Tintin: the secret of the unicorn, and all of these films have made over $471,977,966 because of all the films that Seven Spielberg has directed has been a great hit I believe that this will help the film be successful when it is released. Lastly the best way to make someone want to buy the film when it comes out on DVD and Blueray is to have a script or story line that will sick in the watchers mind, and if there is also good actors that can play the role, that is why I sagest that by looking at my primary research Bradley Copper and Anne Hathaway are the best actors for the job as they have been in films that conduct of action comedy and romance. They have also starred in some of the biggest blockbusters within the past 2 years. Such as Bradley Copper has starred in the hit film The hangover trilogy, this films made over $1,399,94829 within the box office where as Anne Hathaway has been in the hit film les mislabels which has made $441,809,770. Because of the amount of money the films they have been in, this means that they were successful and therefore will help promote the film you are going to make.

When it comes to a released date I was thinking that the best date to realise it would be September next year, this is because although there is some films that are being released in the same month, there is only 2 with one of the same genres. This includes Search party, which is a comedy and Resident Evil 6 and action film. There is non that has the same genre as this film or actors.

And lastly the budget I did some research in to how much Anne Hathaway and Bradley copper got paid on there last films, I found out the Bradley Copper got 15million for the Hanover part 3 and Anne Hathaway got 10million for her part in Les Miserables therefore I think the best budget would be 30 million this is to pay everyone who is part of the film and extra for any props or equipment needed.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to my findings.

THE PLOT My plot is going to involve the genres action comedy

and romance. With the main casting as being Bradley Copper and Anne Hathaway.

Name: Good Cop/ Bad Cop The main plot of the film is going to be a male

character played by Bradley Copper, who is a cop with a mild form of bipolar, who likes to do things his way and not by the book. His last case got dismissed by the court because of the way that he collected the evidence, this leads him to forget other cases that he has been assigned, so that he can try to solve the case he had lost. On his journey he teams up with a woman played by Anne Hathaway. During the film you see that there is a love interest between the to characters which leads you wondering if they would ever get together.
