How many senses do we have?

The senses are five:

• sight

• hearing

• smell

• taste

• touch

The sense of sightThe eyes are the sense organs that we use

to see.

We can see colours and shapes with our eyes.

• I can see a dog. It is brown.

• I can see a flower. Is is beautiful!

• I can see a purple baloon.

The sense of smell

The nose is the organ sense that we use to smell. We can smell different things with our nose.

• Rubbish and the toilet smell very bad!

• What is the tongue?The tongue is the sense organ that we use to taste the

food.

• What is the skin?The skin is the sense organ that we use to touch.

• The skeleton supports the body and has many bones.

• Bones are hard and rigid.

• Joints connect the bones.

• Muscles are soft and flexible.

• Tendons join them to the bones.
