Operating conditions at the time of Event : Load Coal Cycles in service Oil Support Nil 3. Nature of Event : BFP-2C mechanical seal outlet temp. checking. (Non Tripping Event) 4. Observations: BFP-2C was started to check mech. seal outlet temp rise. After 15- 20 mins mech. seal outlet temp attain 135 0 C-140 0 C from its initial temp of 75 0 C. 5. Analysis – In view of above remarks, it is not feasible to keep BFP-2C on Auto S/B. 6. Works carried out by maintenance section – During trial run mech. seal cooler inlet & outlet temp were measured with laser temp gun. There is difference of around 50 0 C. Seal inlet temp is observed 75 0 C to 80 0 C. It can work as emergency auto standby till further check is carried out within a temp limit of 160 0 C. 7. Works carried out for the restoration by operation : Boiler lighted up Time - Date – T-A Set Synchronised Time - Date – 8. Recommendations to avoid reoccurrence : a) Short term – At present the seal water temp is normal. During inspection pumping ring was found loose, it was tighted properly. Hence first proper tightening of pumping ring will be ensured. b) Long term – Long term measures will be decided after on the basis of finding after opening the seal. 9. Remarks General Manager-I

4 x 210 MW : CSTPS : CHANDRAPUR EVENT ANALYSIS REPORT UNIT NO. 2

1. Event No. – 6 Time – 16:45 hrs. Date – 01.04.08

2. Operating conditions at the time of Event :

Load Coal Cycles in service Oil Support

Nil

3. Nature of Event : BFP-2C mechanical seal outlet temp. checking. (Non Tripping Event)

4. Observations: BFP-2C was started to check mech. seal outlet temp rise. After 15-20 mins mech. seal outlet temp attain 1350C-1400C from its initial temp of 750C.

5. Analysis –

In view of above remarks, it is not feasible to keep BFP-2C on Auto S/B.

6. Works carried out by maintenance section –

During trial run mech. seal cooler inlet & outlet temp were measured with laser temp gun. There is difference of around 500C. Seal inlet temp is observed 750C to 800C. It can work as emergency auto standby till further check is carried out within a temp limit of 1600C.

7. Works carried out for the restoration by operation :

Boiler lighted up Time - Date –

T-A Set Synchronised Time - Date –

8. Recommendations to avoid reoccurrence :

a) Short term – At present the seal water temp is normal. During inspection pumping ring was found loose, it was tighted properly. Hence first proper tightening of pumping ring will be ensured.

b) Long term – Long term measures will be decided after on the basis of finding after opening the seal.

9. Remarks –

General Manager-I
