Samuel in the Tabernacle1 SAMUEL 1:24-28; 2:18-26; 3

Samuel’s mother prayed for Samuel before he was born. In her prayer she wanted Samuel to work for God. Samuel was a very young boy when his mother took him to the tabernacle in Shiloh.

Samuel’s mother came to see him every year and brought him a new robe when she would visit. Samuel continued to grow, and God was pleased with him. The people of Israel also liked Samuel.

One night when Samuel was lying down to sleep in the tabernacle, God called his name, “Samuel!” Samuel thought that Eli was calling him. God called to Samuel three times. The fourth time God called him, Eli the priest helped Samuel to know that God was calling him. God had some important things to tell Samuel.

Samuel became a prophet and told the people what God wanted them to know. He continued to grow and learn about God. All the people knew that Samuel was a prophet because he said God’s words.
