Ice-cream Man

When summer’s in the city,

And brick’s a blaze of heat,

The ice-cream man with his little cart

Goes trundling down the street.

Beneath his round umbrella,

Oh, what a joyful sight,

To see him fill the cones with mounds

Of cooling brown and white:

Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry,

Or chilly things to drink

From bottles full of frosty-fizz,

Green, orange, white, or pink.

His cart might be a flower bed,

Of roses and sweet peas,

The way the children cluster round

As thick as honeybees.

Taste testers evaluated 21 different frozen treats, including bars and sandwiches from Dove, Good Humor, Häagen-Dazs, and Klondike. Nostalgia-favorite Good Humor bars were the lowest-rated dark chocolate ice cream bars tested. Sensory tasters described the coating as thin, waxy, and crumbly, with ice cream that tasted of artificial-vanilla and a hint of the wooden stick. Several other dark chocolate bars got sweeter reviews, including Häagen-Dazs and Dove. Both rated excellent.

Summer is not far off, and for many adults and kids alike, thoughts turn to hot, sunny days and refreshingly cold desserts. If ice cream and frozen yogurt choices seem endless, have no fear. Consumer Reports has the scoop on what to keep stocked in your freezer. Consumer Reports tested 25 ice creams and frozen yogurts in three popular flavors: vanilla, chocolate, and butter pecan. Granted, not all are health food, but Consumer Reports does look at nutrition information to see which ones are better for you. And of course, trained testers also rate them for taste.

Ice-cream makers review

This may sound like a no brainer; but the obvious key to churn out homemade ice cream, gelato, sorbet and many other frozen desserts has to be a good reliable ice cream maker. But buying the best one requires some research.

To make this review as comprehensive and detailed as I possibly could, beside doing my own testings AND eating (Cookie dough, double fudge brownie, mint chocolate chip, plain old vanilla….
