The reason why we chose to do underage drinking is because it is a big issue now a days with teens in all areas of the country. It can relate to many people at West Senior and in the area. Whether you participate in it, hear about it, don’t do it, or feel pressure to do it, underage drinking has probably come up at least once in all teens lives.

We surveyed 21 random students in the halls of West Senior ranging from ages 14-18, both male and female.

There were a total of 12 males surveyed and 9 females surveyed.

AGES SURVEYED IN MALES:

- One 14 yr old- Two 15 yr olds- Four 16 yr olds- Four 17 yr olds- One 18 yr old

7 out of 12 males said they have broken the law.

100% of male teens surveyed said they were aware that underage drinking is illegal.

All but 2 of the males said they have been somewhere where there was underage drinking.

7 out of 12 said they have participated in underage drinking before.

Only 2 of the males said they drank to the point of not remembering what happened.

Only 1 of the 12 males said they drank to the point of throwing up.

Only 2 said they did something they regretted while under the influence.

2 out of 12 have gotten caught. One teen male interviewed admitted to

driving while under the influence. 0% of males have used a fake ID. 5 out of 12 said that alcoholism runs in

their family. 5 out of the 12 surveyed said they are

worried about somebody they knows drinking habits.

AGES SURVEYED IN FEMALES:

- Zero 14 yr olds- Four 15 yr olds- Two 16 yr olds

- Three 17 yr olds- Zero 18 yr olds

8 out of 9 teenage girls have broken the law.

100% of them know that underage drinking is illegal.

All but 1 teenage girl has been somewhere where there was underage drinking.

8 out of 9 teen girls have participated in underage drinking before.

Only 3 of the 9 have consumed so much alcohol that they didn’t remember what happened that night.

3 out of 9 have drank to the point of being sick and have done something they regretted.

80% of those surveyed have gotten caught. 0% of teen girls surveyed have driven under

the influence. 1 of the 9 surveyed has used a fake ID. 3 out of 9 said alcoholism runs in their family. 5 out of 9 said they are worried about

someone they knows drinking habits.

“I didn’t remember anything and was very sick.”

“Drank beer after liquor and threw up.”

“Drank a whole bottle in 2 hours.”

“I had too many shots & blacked out.”

“Drank a shit load of beer & liquor.”

“After about a 30 pack and half a bottle of Jack, I

puked up about 5 pieces of pizza.”

“On the way home I threw up all over the car door. I

missed the window.”

After surveying various teenagers in West Senior, we’ve come to the conclusion that just like we thought all have been around or confronted with underage drinking before and a large majority have participated in it. Many of the teens have done things they probably wouldn’t have done sober while under the influence. Also many of those surveyed have drank to dangerous levels and to the point of blacking out and throwing up.
