The largest Slovak processor of oak treesAt the beginning of our journey in 1994 there was a passion for wood and the vision of becoming one of the largest Slovak wood processors. Years of e ort and intensive building bore fruit in the form of the title of the largest proces-sor of oak trees, under which QUERCUS got its name at the start. In all periods of our history there has been an overlap between the three main principles: value, technology and ecol-ogy, and it is not any di erent today. In order to deliver valuable products we are constantly improving and innovating our product portfolio, which goes hand in hand with the modernization of technology. The most modern sawmills, robotic workstations and large drying capacity now constitute only a fraction of our technological background, which allows us to continuously improve quality and production e ciency as well as improve the working environment. Out of a love of nature we keep perfecting our concept of sustainability in order to preserve natural assets for future generations.
Our history1994 • Company foundation with production plant situated in Lučenec1995 • Building a sawmill for the oak wood processing 1996 • Operating of a state-of-the-art workplace for the production of
friezes in Slovakia1997 • First step towards sustainable production – building of a central
biomass heating source to cover the needs of the whole plant1999 • Rising production of solid wood fl ooring2000 • Completion of the fi rst block of dryers2001 • Gaining the title of largest producer of solid wood fl ooring in
Slovakia 2004 • Completion of the second block of dryers2006 • Construction of a new modern sawmill and the purchase of high
capacity band saws • Beginning of production in beech2008 • Second step towards sustainable production – building of the
fi rst pellet mill in the Slovak Republic for the effi cient processing of wood waste
2012 • Third step towards sustainable production – obtaining the inter-nationally recognized PEFC® certifi cation
2013 • Aquisition of major equity by the family holding company BIATEC GROUP
2014 • Reconstruction of sawmills, implementation of new band saws, launching a new workplace for production of friezes, the exten-sion of the fi rst block of dryers and launching of two automated robotic workstations
• Fourth step towards sustainable production – gaining of the internationally recognized FSC® certifi cation
2015 • Implementation of the new pellet mill with thrice the capacity and a new block of dryers, reconstruction of production halls with an area of more than 5000 m2

OUR HISTORY

OUR PRINCIPLES
We pride ourselves on valueSince the beginning it was our goal to create value in the form of genuine products from natural and durable materi-al. Unique wood, valuable know-how and precise processing are the three main ingredients, which are mixed in our production.
Valuable wood
In the past it was used for shipbuilding, mainly now in construction, furniture and to produce quality fl ooring – we are talking about oak, which is a constantly requested and treasured tree in the market. Its quality and abundance in central and southern Slovakia was, before 1994, the decisive criterion in the selection of the main wood for our pro-duction. Over time, a beech tree species typical of Slovak forests would be added, which now accounts for about one quarter of our wood processing.
Know-how and long-time experience
Thanks to over 22 years of experience we have valuable know-how of the entire production process from the selec-tion and processing of saw logs, through the drying of semi-products to the creation of the fi nal product. Expertise and many years of experience enable us to fl exibly deal with the individual needs of our customers and respond to non-standard requirements.
Precise processing
Whether it is the thorough preparation of material, precise incision or error-free surface treatment applications, an emphasis is placed on each stage of production and in particular the quality control system. This enables us to guar-antee the precise workmanship and superior quality of our products.
Progressing thanks to technologyWith ever-increasing requirements for product quality and supply accuracy we are continuously innovating and im-plementing advanced technologies enabling us to have better production e ciency and the maximum value of round timber. Thanks to the successful connection with companies such as Primultini, ABB, Weinig and others, today we have one of the most modern sawmills for processing hardwood in Europe.
Our main technologies in numbers
• saw with a capacity of cutting up to 40 000 m3
• 2 automated robotic workstations• drying and steaming chambers with a capacity
of 1100 m3
• pellet mill with a capacity of 6000 ton annually• central heat source with power exceeding 2,5 mW

OUR PRINCIPLES
Respecting our natureWe have always cared for nature and therefore have been trying to use resources responsibly.
The PEFC® and FSC® certifi cation, along with sustainable production, are our fi rst step, with which we want to contribute to nature conservation.
PEFC® and FSC®
certifi ed saw logsAll wood raw material used in our products
comes entirely from certifi ed Slovak
manufacturing plants and from forests that
are replanted after logging.
Sustainable productionThe wood waste we generate in production
is used to make various types of biofuels.
We consume these in the operation of our
production facilities and buildings, and also
distribute them even further.
Slovak originFor production we use only local wood
and thanks to the proximity of our raw
sources we do not burden the environment
by transporting material over long distances.
Minimum amount of waste
When processing saw timber for individual
products we always try to maximize
the yield and thereby reduce the amount
of waste generated..

WOOD SPECIES AND PRODUCT PORTFOLIO
Our woodSince 1994 we have exclusively processed lo-cal wood known for its qualities and we have used only certifi ed wood of known origin, which comes from sustainable logging. Our production currently consists of semi-fi nished oak products designed mainly for the fl ooring segment, products from beech wood go primar-ily to furniture producers.

European beech— Fagus sylvatica
The most abundant tree species in Slovak forests has a wide application in furniture regarding the production of decorative veneers, as a major or minor component of classic bentwood and upholstered furniture. Other interior elements are popular as well, such as fl oors or stairs. Its properties are slightly behind oak, but those can be signifi cantly improved through the steaming process or “thermo” treatment.
Sessile oak/ English oak— Quercus petraea / robur
Oak is a stably requested and treasured tree in the mar-ket not only because of its properties, but also because of the typical and unique decorative design. It is widely used in the fl ooring, furniture as well as construction or winery. It is considered timeless wood, since its ap-pearance can be adjusted in a variety of ways and thus adapted to current market requirements.
