Kick back, take a seat, grab some snacks, and relax while we bombard you with the best titles inanime as chosen by the members of the UMBC Anime Society!As the title of the event implies, we will be watchinganime non-stop for the next 24 hours! Everysingle officer will be present in some form for the whole event to facilitate the showings. Do notworry! YOU have no obligation to stay! If you feelworn out from all the fun, feel free to leave. 24 Hours of Anime: MiscellaniaAs this would make having fun for all who attend 24 Hours of Anime difficult:        There is absolutely no heckling. Heckling is ANY disruptive vocal outburst or backgroundnoise from microphones turned on. Please keep your mics muted during showings! Otherwise, during ourbreaks, feel free to turn on your mic and chat with your fellow anime fans. You are welcome to usethe #viewings channel in discord to make comments while watching as well.

Because two episodes are not perfectly 60 minutes, for the sake of filling in time, we will be havingperiodic breaks with AMVs, etc. and/or discussion. This is where you’re able to talk to other peoplein the call!

7:00 pm Hidamari Sketch (1-2)Ever since she was young, Yuno has always had an interest in art. Now that she hasbeen accepted to Yamabuki Arts High School, it means one thing—moving out.Living in a dorm at Hidamari Apartments alone, Yuno meets her neighbors: thehyperactive Miyako, the self-conscious Hiro, and the mature Sae. Despite theirdifferent personalities, they go to the same school, spend time together, anddevelop a strong friendship. Yuno's life won't be so lonely after all! HidamariSketch revolves around the antics and day-to-day lives of the girls living atHidamari Apartments.8:00 pm Choose a Genre The “Choose a Genre” block consists of animehand-picked and curated by the members of the MarathonCommittee. First, youchoose a genre! This will be deter-mined by a simple majority vote. Then, you willbe presented with two anime that fit into that genre, also by voting! Vote wisely, astwo genres will remain unwatched by the end of theevent.9:00 pm Viewers’ Choice (Movie Potential) This is the block for you! No really,this block is all about you. During a “Viewer’s Choice” block, we will survey theaudience and select five people to propose an anime to watch. Once five titles havebeen selected, we take a vote and the winner is what we’ll watch for the next hour!There are plenty of Viewer’s Choice blocks throughout the event, so don’t worry ifyou don’t win. Their day to day life is mostly uneventful, mainlyonly consisting of girls flirting, but for some reason it's difficult to tear one's eyes awayfrom this new generation of high school girls' communication.

Message from the President

Hello anime fans,

This semester has been an interesting one, to say the least. For most of the people I have talked with(with one exception), this semester has been a very difficult and trying one—perhaps it’s fatiguefrom COVID lockdown? Regardless, we’re finally almost over the semester and about to startsummer break! Things are looking very different where we stand now from where we were at theend of last semester. Vaccines are not only approvedbut now widely available. The CDC has juststated that vaccinated people can resume a more-or-less normal life. Things are opening up...but theCOVID-19 pandemic is still raging throughout the world. Things are starting to look up, but we’renot out of the woods yet.

In the anime society this semester, we continued to hold our regular meetings on Discord. Weenjoyed our scheduled viewings of Terror in Resonance, Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu, Magi, and YuruCamp. We also enjoyed repeated BYOA nominations of Charlotte and Kotoura-san, among others. Ihope that the Anime Society has been able to provide respite from the stresses of this extremelystressful semester, and I hope that we’ll continue to be able to do so. By this time next year (andhopefully in the fall), we might be able to see each other in person again? Here’s hoping for a betterand brighter future!
