New Signal Controlled Junction

● Widening of the A590 to create two lanes at the junction

● A single lane approach retained on North Lonsdale Terrace

● Traffic signals at the junction

● Signal controlled pedestrian crossing on the A590

● Parking bays (uncontrolled) on the west side of North Lonsdale Terrace, predominantly for use by residents from adjacent properties

● Build-out of footway to separate parking bays and visually narrow carriageway, this will incorporate dropped kerb access to existing residential driveways

● On-street parking (uncontrolled) parallel to wall of Auction Mart formalised by road markings and surfacing

Proposed Layout

● Construction should begin in early 2016 and be completed in summer 2016

What is the Scheme?

● North Lonsdale Terrace is the main route for non-lorry traffic accessing development sites in south Ulverston

● Traffic signals will help the junction to operate more effectively

● Pedestrians will find it easier to cross the A590
