UNFORGETTABLE childhood of Mr. Tony, the owner of Tony’s Vil-las & Resort, was spent with a variety of hard and challenging works. He almost had no time to play as other children of his age. Nevertheless, he never surrendered to his condition then but pursued with delights at all times.

After school time of his elementary school (1970) was mostly taken advantage to hawk lawar (one of Balinese delicacies), satay and popsicles at Batanta. Two years later, he decided to work with others namely at car wash service. As he got ad-ditional pocket money he was very happy as finally could pur-chase one of the foods he longed for, namely tipat cantok or rice bag served with vegetables and peanut sauce.

In 1975, he did not continue his study to high school. Instead, he decided to work at the airport as porter. This job only lasted for three years. Thankfully, he was quite happy to get tips as much as AUD 1. After that, he worked as a taxi driver for four years. Due to his tenacity, he was then able to purchase three units of push bike to be rented to guests at Melasti Hotel.

In the long run, his savings were enough to purchase a mo-torcycle at IDR 725,000 with installments. His motorcycle was rented by a guest. From this rental business, he could purchase three additional motorcycles. A new stage of his business start-ed in 1993. His regular guest who rented his car was a French man named Philip Galow. He took monthly rental. Once upon a time, Tony asked to Philip what kind of business he had in Bali. Philip told him that he managed a garment company in Bali.

Tony’s business instinct apparently did not want to miss this good opportunity. He wanted to develop his business beyond the rental services. So, he asked how he could get involved in the garment business. Philip suggested Tony to purchase sew-ing machines. At first, he was given 2,000 orders (sets of shirt and trousers). Three months later, he was given regular order and even doubled.

History of a Successful Journey

In 1998, the land of Tonys Villas was purchased. Originally, it was not intended for building a hotel, but given to his parents to be cultivated. He would like to make his parents happy by presenting the result of his hard work. However, a year later he used the land to build a lodge for guest who provided him the garment orders. In September 1999, he built two rooms. Over the years, he got many orders of garment and 22 rooms of Bungalow could have been accom-

plished. Tonys Villa stated its operations in 2000. (22 Units - 52sqm)

His business grew rapidly and there was a high demand of room, so that in 2005 he decided to purchase additional land next to the bungalow for expansion. The construction began in 2006, where the bungalow property was then equipped with nine units of One-Bedroom Pool Villa. With this new room category, he would like to differentiate and

expand the product by also targeting luxury villa market. (9 Units - 111sqm)

Last but not least, his development continued in 2015. The remaining land area was then taken advantage to build an elegant resort to equip the existing properties. This project involved the addition of new category, namely deluxe pool view and deluxe pool access. Ultimately, this project could be accomplished and is ready to be in operation in 2017. Along with the final expansion Tony’s Villa was transform and rebrand itself into TONYS VILLAS & RESORT, SEMINYAK – BALI.
