• Gospel music industry alliance (GMIA) have been made an

affiliate member of the Association of independent music

(AIM).

• This is the First time Gospel music has been recognised in this

way. It represents a landmark move for the many professionals

and organizations popular but unrecognised genre

Independent Music (AIM)

• AIM is a non-profit-making trade company established by a small group of independent music companies in 1999, providing a collective voice for the UK’s independent music industry.

• It represents over 800 member companies from the most respected labels in the world to small start ups and individual artists releasing their own music for the first time.

• AIM strives to create a level playing field and fair commercial environment in which independent music companies can grow and achieve success.

Gospel Music Industry

Alliance (GMIA)

• Launched last year with the vision to inform, resource,

promote and unite those who are actively involved with

the sector.

• Over the past decade the genre has expanded in its fusion

wit other music forms like RnB, hip hop and reggae,

which has helped it gain a new respect within a youth

market.

• Muyiwa became the first UK Gospel artists to sell out at

the Hammersmith Apollo. Tagged as ‘Urban Gospel.’

Gospel Music Industry

Alliance (GMIA) continued..

• Artists such as Jahaziel, Guvna B and Victizzle have

become the new face of Gospel with recognition through

UMA (Urban Music Awards) and MOBO (Music of

Black Origin) wins.

• In 2011 (independent record label) Zoe Gospel’s artist

Lola Godheld won UK Gospel’s first major music awards

at the US Dove’s (the Christian/Gospel equivalent of the

Grammy’s).
