The data I found on the Uk Film Council website enabled me to clearly see that the zombie genre is spread across various other conventional genres, these included Horror, Disaster and that of the Thriller genre. This is a significant revelation as it identifies that I will need base the film opening around themes that are both suitable and enjoyed by an audience of over 16 years of age, this additionally mean that my film will appeal to a wider ranged audience rather than if I had said the population of 18 years of age. By combining these three genres to generate my film it means that 113% of the population to whom clearly enjoy the use of a hybrid of genres will enable me to cover a range of conventions within my film opening. Conditionally, my choice of genre is simply that of a sub-genre, so is has not be considered within in this data above, this is due that audience being to niche rather than that of a mainstream audience.

Here it is demonstrated that the public’s preferences within this genre are linked to that of their demographic makeup. Firstly, our primary audience will be of males over 35 and in turn females under 35, through this information it means that we are able to create a successful film opening to which will appeal to a wide reaching audience. Additional, information that could be noted is that this audience if general in the way that it is made collectively of parents as well as them being from a middle class background.

Correspondingly, these statistics show that through the use of a hybrid film opening is in high levels of significance, whereas the level of a failing hybrid film is surprisingly low. For example, Thriller genre demonstrates a percentage of 26% in its total ratings, but the percentage rating for that of the disaster genre is 5%, this is significant as it shows that disaster films are not overly popular in relation to British screenings. Through this specific information it accentuates the fact that when I include elements of the disaster genre within my film that I will need to be careful as the amount of people in the British Nation to whom like the genre is surprisingly low.

To conclude, I understand that in order to create a successful film opening I will need to both have analyzed and then included within my film a range of genres or even elements from these genre to which will need to be included. However, the choice of the Zombie genre, clearly demonstrates that it is a sub-genre so the specific statistics to which we require are not 100% available so from this it can be inferred that the target audience for my film is niche.
