Here at Waterside Tours, we pride ourselves in striving to deliver what our customers expect and deserve. Day 1: Drive down to Cornwall and arrive at our hotel to a Cornish Cream Tea. The Esplanade Hotel is situated overlooking the famous Fistral Beach in the surfing town of Newquay. The hotel has a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi for you to relax in and the rooms have free Wifi and tea/coffee making facilities.

Days 2 -4: Visiting the old market town of St Austell, just a few miles from the coast and one of Cornwall's biggest towns. It was for centuries an important mining town but it was the discovery of china clay in the mid 18th century that really put the town on the map. The town centre of St Austell has a variety of shops, local and national, with a modern shopping centre, but you can also admire the beautiful sandy beach. The hotel will provide a packed lunch for this excursion. There will also be a chance to visit Trebah Gardens for a small fee of £6.00 per person (not included in cost - minimum numbers required). This will include a guided tour of this valley garden which has a wide variety of plants for all year round appeal.

Day 1: Travel up to Flintshire to our independently run hotel set in the village of New Brighton, only 2 miles from the market town of Mold.

Days 2 - 4: Today we explore the city of Chester which has the most complete city walls and largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain and 700 year old unique shopping rows. We enjoy a 30 minute river cruise on the River Dee before enjoying lunch in Chester Cathedral’s 13th century Refectory. We then take a self-guided tour or the Medieval Cathedral to discover its story.

Enjoy a lovely drive via Colwyn Bay to the “Queen of Welsh” resort – Llandudno, where we take a ride to the top of the Great Orme on the restored tramway to take in the outstanding views of Snowdonia.

Free time in Llangollen in the morning, before enjoying a trip on the fantastic Pontcysyllte Aqueduct canal boat, which takes us on a 5 mile stretch alongside the Dee Valley. The trip includes a crossing of the world famous Aqueduct known as The Stream in The Sky. Day 5 : We make our way home to the Waterside.

Day 1: Travel up to our hotel in Kendal. The Riverside Hotel, a converted 18th century tannery set on five floors, is situated on the banks of the River Kent beneath the ruins of the town’s 12th century castle. The hotel has a heated indoor pool, sauna and steam room. A short walk away is the centre of this famous market town with its bustling shops, galleries and museums.

Days 2 - 4: Travel through the heart of the Lake District to England’s most beautiful lake, Ullswater for a cruise on a steamer from Pooley Bridge to Glenridding with expansive vistas of Lakelands highest mountains.

Journey through the beautiful Leven Valley on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway before enjoying a relaxing cruise on Lake Windemere from Lakeside to Bowness-on-Windemere

Take a nostalgic trip on the Ravenglass Railway and travel across the estuary, through the hills, past seven request stops with a 1:40 gradient at times, en route to our final destination some seven miles up the line to Dalegarth for Boot Station on La’al Ratty.

Day 5: Return to Waterside.

Days 1 and 2 : Travel via Eurotunnel across France for an overnight stop at the Hotel Ibis Dijon Gare before travelling through to Italy. Our hotel, which is situated on the stunning Lake Maggiore has timeless rooms offering free WIFI connection, satellite T.V, safe and air conditioning.

Day 3 to 8: Explore Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands on a boat trip and visit Isola Bella House and Gardens, with its magnificent Baroque palace and terraced gardens that slope to the lake which was once inhabited by Napoleon. A panoramic 2 hour train journey on the Centovalli Railway through the picturesque “100 valleys” to Domodossola. A half day guided tour of Milan – known for its high end restaurants and shops. A visit to Isola San Guilio - a fairytale island in the middle of Lake Orta with a 12th century Basilica. The pedestrian-friendly roads wind by medieval and newer structures that crown the soil.

Day 9 : We begin our journey home and will stop overnight at the Hotel Dijon Gare.

Day 1: Travel up to Ilfracombe, with its golden sandy beaches to our hotel which is close to the High Street and the Tunnels beaches.

Days 2 -4 : A visit to RHS Rosemoor, with several gardens to explore including a stream and rock gully, hot garden, cottage garden and stone garden. In the afternoon, we make our way to the historic harbour town of Bideford with its quirky shops and traffic free lanes.

Free day in Ilfracombe, attractions include the award winning Aquarium, the unique Tunnels Beaches and the fascinating Ilfracombe Museum – or just take a stroll along the promenade!

We visit the intriguing Regency house and gardens of Arlington Court and the National Trust Carriage Museum, which houses vehicles ranging from the ornate to the humble carts used to carry servants. We then make our way to the twin villages of Lynton & Lynmouth for an optional Cliff Railway Victorian water powered funicular cliff lift – perched 500 feet above!

Day 1: Travel up to the beautiful unspoilt Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire to our hotel in the market town of Coleford. On site golf course – which you can use at discounted rate, and bowling green, the hotel has a traditional, historical feel that is coupled with modern facilities. On arrival for this early Christmas break, we will have a meet and greet with mulled wine and mince pies to get you in the mood for the upcoming festivities.

Days 2 - 4: Visit Hereford - a cathedral city with the relaxed atmosphere of a country market town. The 12th century cathedral has a wealth of history, and is home to the Mappa Mundi, the only surviving medieval map of the world to remain intact.

Day 1: Travel via Eurotunnel to the 4-star Mercure Metz Hotel which is located in the heart of the city and only 300 metres from the train station if you wanted to go further afield, but the diverse architecture from its ancient Gallo-Roman remains to the futuristic Pompidou-Metz Centre being erected at present, makes Metz a splendid and extremely interesting city to explore.

Days 2 and 3 : The sights and sounds from the many stalls lining the city square of Metz are filled with the scent of mulled wine and gingerbread when the Christmas Market arrives. The whole Place Saint-Louis and the Esplanade is illuminated with enchanting waterfalls of lights and wonders to behold. Metz Christmas Markets are spread out over six sites: Place de la République, Place Saint Louis, Place de la Gare, Place Saint-Jacques, Place de Chambre and Place d’Armes.

Metz Christmas markets are the one of the largest in France, with illuminated lanterns, ice sculptures in the Frozen Fairyland and a Magic Forest to walk through – you will be in Christmas heaven.

Day 3: In the afternoon we visit the beautiful town of Monschau, nestled in a valley just a few kilometres from the Belgian border in Germany, it is full of romantic old streets, quaint shops, half timbered buildings and a wonderful selection of restaurants and cafes. One of the prettiest towns in Germany and beautifully decorated for the Christmas season – a definite must especially when it gets dark!

Day 1: Travel up to our hotel in London to arrive there around midday. Our hotel will be confirmed closer to departure date but will be centrally located, so close to most of London’s famous attractions. If the rooms are not ready on arrival at the hotel, we can leave the luggage with the concierge.

With so many museums, iconic landmarks and visitor attractions, you shouldn’t find it hard to keep yourself busy. You could pay Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park a visit – entrance is free but they have many other attractions inside, such as a circus, ice show and funfair (not included in cost). Or go see one of the many shows in the West End as an early Christmas treat to yourself or a loved one?

Day 2: Today you have the morning and early afternoon to carry on exploring the Capital as we return to the Waterside in the late afternoon.

It’s a fast moving celebration of the festive season featuring an eclectic mix of both seasonal and year-round favourites, with famous and much-loved chart toppers being performed alongside traditional carols.

Day 1: Travel via Eurotunnel to spend Christmas in the beautiful city of Bruges. The Academie Hotel is situated on a charming cobbled street, near to one of Bruges’ highlights: The Lake of Love and within walking distance of the Railway station, Market square and shopping area.

Days 2 -4 : We will visit Chocostory – the Chocolate Museum in Bruges, located in the sixteenth – century “Huis de Crone” building, originally the home of a wine tavern. A quirky museum dedicated to all things chocolate. Learn about the history of chocolate, its cultivation and historical development and some tasting along the way. Also included is a visit to the Straffe Hendrik Brewery for a tour to find out about the brewing process of this fine Belgian beer. If you can manage the steps, there is a fantastic view over the town from the top, also a tasting is offered in the Courtyard. A chance to go to Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve at the Holy Lady Church, dating back some 800 years, has the second highest brick built tower in the world! A truly stunning church containing famous art work including Michelangelo’s Madonna and child among others.

5 DAY TOUR – CHRISTMAS IN FLINTSHIRE 3* BEAUFORT PARK HOTEL – MOLD

Departs: Monday 23 December 2019

Day 1: Travel up to Wales to our hotel which is located a short drive from the historic market town of Mold in North Wales. We arrive to a welcome drink of tea/coffee and a delicious mince pie, with a festive glass of sherry before a 3 course dinner with entertainment.

Christmas Eve: A visit to either the historic Roman town of Chester or Ellesmere Port for maybe a bit of last minute shopping or to see the many attractions - a packed lunch is provided by the hotel for this. After dinner, there is a chance to attend Midnight Mass.

Christmas Day: A pre lunch glass of Bucks Fizz before Christmas carols followed by a traditional Christmas lunch with a visit from Father Christmas. There will be a light buffet dinner in the evening, followed by entertainment.

Boxing Day: In the morning, we will take a scenic drive to take in the stunning landscapes, then back at the hotel, a 2 course lunch will be followed by afternoon entertainment such as a quiz, bingo, play your cards right etc. Then an Afternoon Tea with a farewell dinner/dance in the Westminster Suite in the evening.

Day 5: Return to Waterside after breakfast.
