Bright World education ltd and Bright World Guardianships ltd are sister companies, both established in 2000 and dedicated to helping international students find places at UK schools, colleges and universities and safeguarding their welfare while they are here. Bright World education ltd is an education consultant specialising in helping international students find places at UK boarding schools, colleges and universities.

Sheena and Carol have worked with Bright World and these schools and colleges for over 10 years each so have a tremendous knowledge of the schools, the education system and most importantly how international students can make the transition between their education system overseas and ours in the UK.

We have excellent contacts with schools and understand the needs of international students very well. Schools fill up quite quickly during the academic year and we keep a careful note of the places still available week by week.

to apply, send us the student’s name, date of birth and latest school reports with any further requirements and we will suggest schools that still have places in the correct year group for you.

We will then guide you throughout the admissions process until your place is confirmed.

GUardiaNShiP

Once your place is confirmed, your chosen school will ask you to give them the name and address of your nominated guardian. if you do not have a family friend who lives in the UK you may need to select a Guardianship Organisation to fulfil this role.

We can then introduce you to the services of Bright World Guardianships should you wish us to continue to care for your child during their study period.

I whole-heartedly believe that without your dedicated efforts and good recommendations, we would never have made it - Sheena, no words can express our gratitude to you!! With warmest regards,

Estella Yip, Mother of Regine Yip

the British education system is renowned worldwide for its high academic standards. the table below shows the standard system in the UK and that offered by the majority of the UK boarding schools with whom we work.

A levels and IB are offered in the UK as the main qualification to gain entry to a British or indeed any university system globally.

the Bright World admissions team will match your academic history, level and age group with the right course. the standard academic year begins in September and is made up of three terms.

Differences in school systems and insufficient level of English often means that some students dont fit exactly with the traditional system. In this case we can recommend courses with flexible start dates and schools offering English language support.

Many international students do not quite meet the English language level required to enter a UK boarding school. Sometimes they also need to top up their academic qualifications before starting an A level or IB course in the UK.

Bright World works with several boarding schools who have an international Study Centre on or near their campus to help these students prepare for entry to main school.

Secondary school begins in Year 9 in the UK when students are 13 years old. during Year 9 there are no public examinations so it is an ideal time for international students to join and acclimatise before entering Year 10 and beyond.

Year 10 sees the start of a two year course culminating in state examinations and qualifications called GCSE’s General Certificate of Secondary Education. Students will normally choose between 8-11 subjects at this level. Success at GCSe enables students to continue to a level or iB.

Year 12 entry is the next available time to start a UK school after Year 10 and sees the start of preparation of university study. a levels are the traditional route to UK university and students start the 2 year course in year 12. at the end of Year 12 students sit for 3 or 4 aS level examinations. Students then continue onto Year 13 at the end of which they sit a levels in 3 or 4 subjects.

the iB course is a broader curriculum with two languages as compulsory amongst a total of six subjects taken. Both a level and iB are recognised as an entry requirement to an undergraduate course at universities worldwide.

the College is situated on the western tip of the town, a block or two from the sea and ten minutes' walk from the town centre, with its main-line trains to london Victoria, and from the downs.

Pupils' lives at eastbourne are centred on their houses. There boys and girls find themselves part of a house community. it is in their houses that pupils, both boarding and day, will make their closest friends, will receive the unstinting support of a housemaster or housemistress and will naturally gravitate between classes, meals, activities, recreational arts, sport, town leave and other social events. each house has features that are common to all houses but equally each house has its own individual atmosphere.

Beyond the classroom, pupils are encouraged to take part in activities that ask them to reach out beyond the subjects they are studying. flourishing academic societies run events, debate with visiting speakers and organise trips for interested pupils.

St Leonards-Mayfield is a Roman Catholic boarding and day school educating girls aged 11-18. the school is set in the village of Mayfield, East Sussex, England within easy reach of london and international airports.

Inspirational teaching, from highly-qualified and dedicated staff, enables their girls to blossom in expected and, often, in quite unexpected areas. This is due to the equal value which they place on every subject and to the breadth of curriculum they offer. Girls are always encouraged to do their best and given the confidence they need to succeed.

Unusually in a girls’ school, chemistry and mathematics, the freedom to combine an eclectic set of subjects at a level is characteristic of the school and equips Mayfield girls with qualifications to take them successfully into all walks of life.

Sport is an essential aspect of St Leonards-Mayfield school life and all pupils benefit from the wide range of opportunities and the facilities available to them.

St leoNardS maYfield

St Teresa's offers first class boarding facilities. Younger girls are accommodated in bright attractive rooms sharing perhaps with up to 5 other girls, while older girls have their own study bedrooms.

at St teresa's bright girls are challenged and supported to achieve to their maximum – often 3 or 4 a or a* grades at a level. the public examination results of their academically most able girls easily rival those of selective competitor schools.

Equally, those girls whose talents are not all academic but who work hard with their teachers' guidance and support will achieve to their maximum and we celebrate the hard won grades and achievements of all their pupils.

the school has all-weather pitch and new swimming pool complex and the arts benefit from a magnificent £3 million, 750-seat performing arts theatre hall, equipped with the latest technology, with new music and drama suites.

St tereSaS SChool

SUrVal moNtreUX, SWitzerlaNd

Surval montreux is a small international boarding school for girls between the ages of 13 and 18. Set in a stunning location in the slopes above montreux, it looks out across the lake Geneva to the mountains beyond.

it is here that we offer girls the opportunity to love learning, to develop and grow intellectually, personally, and spiritually, and to become leaders. Without the possible distractions of boys, girls have not just equal opportunity but every opportunity to take the lead. they will be the leaders of the school community, helping to make decisions about their facilities and enrichment courses: they will have leading parts in the plays we produce, in musical activities, in sport, and in the charities we support both locally and further afield.

life in an international boarding school is an exceptional experience. Part of the fun is getting to know each other: how each celebrates festivals, what food each enjoys (or what they cannot eat): what activities each is involved in at home: girls will be astonished both by what is different and what is similar. one of the great strengths of an all girls’ school is the friends whom girls make for life, and that invaluable network of independent, thoughtful women which will stretch across the globe to build on for the future.

once tests have been sent back to us we will ask schools to mark them. they will then tell us if the child has been successful. once you have decided to accept a school offer we will help you to complete the acceptance form and pay your deposit. at this point the school will also ask you to nominate your UK guardian. We hope you will choose Bright World Guardianships.

We are often asked how long an application will take to complete. this does vary according to the time of year you are applying, which school you are applying to and how quickly you get us the information we need. We promise to give you quick responses to your emails and phone calls and rely on you to give us the information we require quickly. We then endeavour to make the process as smooth and as fast as possible. there is no charge for our placement service.

monitor the progress of your child

all international children studying in the UK need a responsible adult to act as their representative while they are here if their parents are not living with them. UK boarding schools have a duty of care to their students and need to uphold the Child Protection laws in the UK and this is why most insist on either a family friend between the age of 25-30 or an aeGiS accredited guardianship organisation to take on this role.

if there is no family friend available then we encourage you to choose Bright World Guardianships. Established since 2000 we operate a first class suite of services and are now one of the largest aeGiS accredited companies in the UK.
