OUR History
Prof. NoureddineMouaddib, presidentand founder of UIRinitiated the projectwith the support ofboth the MoroccanState and the Diaspora.
Upon royal instructionsa 20 hectares land lotin Technopolis hasbeen allocated to UIR.
UIR signed adevelopment contractwith the Moroccan State.
His Majesty King Mohammed VI lays thefoundation stone of the campus. Launchof UIR’s 1st programs in: Business,Information Technology, PreparatoryClasses (for Engineering schools) andExecutive Education.
Launch of new schools:Political Science,Aerospace Engineering.UIR inaugurates the firstphase of its campus.
From 2012 to 2015 UIRlaunched 12 Schools withmore than 25 accreditedprograms and receivedthe state’s recognition in2016.

Our scholarship vision: Equity vs. Equality
The Chronicle of higher education – August 2010.This September, the UIR, Which is in the Moroccan capital, received its first 200students. This University is a public-private partnership. The University aims tohave 280 permanent professors and 5000 students by 2020.In addition to management, business, political science and informationtechnology, UIR offers programs in renewable energies, automotive,aeronautical, naval and railway engineering, and architecture.
UIR receives the Trophy of Public Diplomacy («Science» section) in 2011.The International University of Rabat received the Trophy of Public Diplomacy,«Sciences» section, from the Ambassador of Portugal, who is the Dean of EuropeanAmbassadors, in November 2011.
The Trophies of Public Diplomacy aim at rewarding governmental and non-politicalactors who have contri- buted to a greater international reach of the Kingdom. Theyaim to reward the best Moroccan dynamics and to shed light on citizen initiatives aswell as to foster understanding and cooperation among peoples, through actions ofnon-governmental diplomacy.
Report on Knowledge Economy-June 2013 World Bank – ISESCOThe university is an internationally oriented, R&D-driven university, based in theTechnopolis of Rabat, an industrial area that aspires to host high-tech industries.
The crucial element of the institution’s success is its public funded status. The privatemanagement of UIR allows the institution to have more flexibility to recruit talentsfrom the Moroccan diaspora around the world.

UIR receives the IIE Heiskell Awards ofInnovation, 2017The prize was granted to the UIR and its American academicpartner Mississippi State University (MSU) by the Americaninstitution «IIE» (International Institute for Education) in March2017.
It rewards UIR and MSU for their innovation in the field of highereducation through their double-diploma partnership in the fieldof automotive and aeronautical engineering, which wassuccessfully launched in 2014.

MEdiNA Studies Program
Summer School
Faculty-led / Customized Programs
The MEdiNA studies program is an area studiesprogram taught within the UIR School of PoliticalScience. The program has a dedicated cohort, whostay for either a semester or an academic year.Credits are fully transferable.
Provides quality, interdisciplinary education to majorsin humanities and social sciences in theMediterranean, North African and Middle Easternregion, combined with adjunct artistic, cultural anddevelopment studies.
Examples of study areas include: political science,business schools, education, art and culture,religion, history and anthropology, language andcommunication.
MEdiNA Studies Program
This is a four-week program taking place in the month of July
It has two main components:
I. Arabic language Component
II. MENA Area Studies:
Street Ethnographies: Narrating the City,History of the Arab World,
Moorish Art and Islamic Architecture,International Politics of the Mediterranean and the
Maghreb.
UIR Summer School 2019
Also called “Customized Programs”.
UIR’s “Faculty-Led Programs” are open tolocal and/or international universities/colleges,as well as high schools, NGOs, and otherindependent organizations.
They take place during Spring, Summer andWinter breaks and allow students to earncredits toward their university/school degree.
We are happy to work out a specific programtailored to the needs of the participants, andfulfilling the any academic requirements oftheir respective programs at their hostinstitutions.
