Levels: Creation of floor plates Consummate: Final structure; application of skin The tower is comprised of components which can be programmed in a variety of ways for either private or public functions. The resulting structure promotes interaction between the city’s various communities at all levels of the urban surround. The tower is an opaque, rectilinear structure, with highly fixed programs around the main office/residential programs. The formal organization of the tower creates several terraces which are utilized for many activities. The envelope of the building is made of glass which opens up in key locations for optimal sunlight and t o defend prevailing winds. This building offers unique floor plans (houses stacked in the sky) with articulated surfaces, dramatic cantilevers, profusion of balconies, expanses of glass, and views of Downtown Chicago. Our building challenges the notion of a classic skyscraper image with a proposal of thoughtful, daring, and a dazzling new alternative. The iconic American -skyscraper is re-envisioned as a pixilated vertical layering of individually sculpted, highly customized spaces opening its users to the atmosphere. The building introduces new structural capab ilities with staggered progres sion of structural slabs.
