Our purpose is to contribute to promotion of music in the Kansai Region by inviting prominent musicians to a World Cultural Heritage Nara, to sincerely respect classic music, which is a cultural heritage from wonderful composers, and to share music with, and deepen hearty exchange among all music lovers through music, regardless of amateur or professional and beyond all borders, considering music as a lifelong friend.

A competition is a place where music lovers gather to show their results of daily train-ing and honing their skills, to absorb ideas from performance of other participants, and to increase their fellows. A goal is essential for enhancing our daily motivation. The approach to music varies between amateur and professional, because they do it for enjoyment or for living. However, we hope each of you explore music in their own category, and beyond that, all the music lovers acquire not only the result of judg-ment, but also something through the competition, and share it beyond the borders. Amateurs and profes sionals, let’s encourage each other and support the fellows who will launch out from this competition together!

■Repertoire for Preliminary Competition (1) An Equal temperament (2) One Etude by Chopin, Liszt, Debussy, Scriabin, Rachmaninov, or Prokofiev

・Applicants must play (1) to (2) consecutively.

■Repertoire for Main Competition Piece(s) of free choice within 20 minutes from the following composers’ works: Bach, Scarlatti, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Chopin, Liszt, Brahms, Faure, Debussy, Scriabin, Rachmaninov, Lavelle, Bartok, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, or Messiaen

- All the repetitions are at the competitor's discretion. - Cannot play only a part of movement. - Selecting multiple pieces from the same composer is acceptable. *The professional stage is for would-be professional performers. Music college students majoring in piano, violin, and vocal music should apply for Professional Stage. High school students of vocal music course should apply for general high school students category. Please note that music college students are not allowed to participate in the general stage. (Music college graduates who do not aim for professional performers can apply for general highest category.) *Music special school students and diploma students are regarded as music college students.

*Active music college students can participate in general stage when they apply for an instrument or vocal in which they aren’t majoring in.

*High school students of piano/violin can participate in the professional stage. (except for high school students of vocal music)

*Please kindly note the selected category and piece might be requested to be changed after application as a result of discussion in the board of directors. *The participants of the professional stage are required to memorize musical scores. *Unpublished music such as original songs is not allowed.

*The students of college of education are not considered as music college students. They can participate in the general stage. (The students of Osaka Kyoiku University majoring in Art etc. are considered as music college students.) *Judging time starts when a performance begins. Please confirm your judging time. It depends on category. *You are required to accompany your accompanist. Please contact the secretariat when you want to be introduced to an accompanist for some reason. Please make a negotiation such as a pre-meeting with an accompanist by yourself. The secretariat assumes no responsibility for any judging result by introducing an accompanist. We do recommend you accompany your own accompanist. Please note that there will be a cancellation fee if you cancel. (Half the amount by over a month before the competition day, all the amount within less than a month before the competition day) *Vocal should be performed only in the original language. *Piano lid is opened in the fixed way. (In case of piano/violin, the lid is fully opened. In case of vocal, half opened.)

*Decision on changing playing order and time on the day due to traffic condition and natural disasters is left to the direction of the secretariat. *Invitation for the competition is sent to you by mail again by two weeks before the competition day after application. Please contact the secretariat by email immediately if you do not receive invitation by two weeks before the competition day. (We will contact you by email when you apply online. Please register your mail address that is not set the incoming rejection of any spam mails.)

*Submission of transfer receipt is not required in case of applying online. *Please refrain from taking photos, videos, and recording in the venue. *Rehearsal room is available for tuning. We will inform you at the reception on the day. Please follow the staff’s guidance. *The preliminary day is subject to change in accordance with application status; however, we make our best effort to meet your request. We will inform you of the change individually.

*Piano is tuned in 442Hz. *Late arrival is not allowed. *If you want to inform your school of winning the prize, submit a 82-yen stamped, long form NO.3 envelope with a seal to the reception on the contest day. Please write clearly your school name (formal name including municipally etc.) and address. *Please note change after application is not allowed. Application should be postmarked on or before the deadline. Please note application after that should be invalid. *Please transfer the participation fee and submit required documents by the due date. (Please cover the transfer fee.) Please make sure to check the documents to ensure accuracy by using a check sheet. *Please note that you cannot participate if your payment is not confirmed. *Submitted documents and music source are not be returned. *Please kindly note that we can never refund your payment. *Please pay accommodation, travel, and other costs by yourself. *We do not respond to any inquiry about the judging result at all. *Personal information of participants and instructors is strictly managed by General Incorporated Association Aoniyoshi Music Contest Nara, and it is used only for the contest, concert, and notice concerning the contest. *The rights to perform, broadcast, record, video, photo in the contest, concert, and gathering and the rights for publicity and sales based on them belong to General Incorporated Association Aoniyoshi Music Contest Nara. Participants have no right to demand monetary rewards. *Participants are needed to manage their musical instruments and belongings at their own risk in the venue. Please note that we take no responsibility for any trouble. *The concert of the winners of the first, second, and third prizes and performers recommended by the board of directors are scheduled to be held at the hall in Nara Prefecture in spring, 2020. The awards ceremony and distribution of prizes are held on this day.

*The preliminary competition is held in the venue basically. In case of those who are difficult to participate in the venue preliminary for geographical reasons and admitted as such by this competition, the recording preliminary competition is allowed.

*Please contact the secretariat by email before sending music source when you prefer the recording preliminary competition. We reply you after discussion in the board of directors.

*The recording time should be the same as the examination at the venue. Please refer to other specifics of the venue preliminary competition.

*There is a review. 《Application method》 Please transfer the participation fee for the recording preliminary, 15,000yen (tax included), and send application documents, music source, and transfer receipt (transfer statement) to the secretariat, enclosing a 92-yen stamped, self-addressed, long form NO.3 self seal envelope and a self-addressed postcard. 《Application deadline》 Postmarked on or before August 20 (Tue.)
