Installation
Forbestperformanceathighambienttemperatures,theremustbefreeaircirculationoverthecoolingunitattherearoftherefrigerator.Ensurethatthereisafreeairspaceabovetherefrigeratorandthattheflue(chimney)ontopofthecabinetisnotcoveredinanyway.Donotplacetherefrigeratorinaspacewhereaircirculationisrestricted.Follow“clearance”instructions.Thisfree-standingrefrigeratorrequiresaccessibilitytothebackforservicingthegasequipment,whichcanbeobtainedbyusingacertifiedFlexibleMetalConnectortoallowtherefrigeratortobewithdrawnwithoutdisruptingthegassupply.“Whereaflexiblemetalconnectorisused,itmustcomplywithlocalauthoritiesandinCanadawiththeprovisionsofthecurrentStandardCAN1-6.10,MetalConnectorsforGasAppliances”.However,iftheLocalAuthoritiesrequirearigidgassupplyconnector,therefrigeratorshouldbelocatedwithsufficientspaceatthebackforservicingor,iflocatedagainstawallaremovablepanelofaminimumsizeof16”x20”shouldbeprovidedinthewalltoallowaccesstotherearoftherefrigerator.IfyoupurchasedaCM(COMonitormodel)youmustfollowinstructionsinSection6-5.0onward.

Gas Connection
Hook-uptothegassupplyline:3/8”SAE(UNF5/8”-18)maleflareconnection.Abackupwrenchmustbeusedwhentighteninggassupplyfitting.Allcompletedconnectionsshouldbecheckedforleakswithanon-corrosiveleakdetectorand/orsoapandwaterforabubblecheck.
WARNING–DONOTUSEFLAMETOCHECKFORGASLEAKS
Thegassupplysystemmustincorporateapressureregulatortomaintainasupplypressureofnotmorethan12”watercolumnandnolessthan11”watercolumn.(Maxsetting)MakesuretherefrigeratorandanyotherhighBTUappliancesonyourlineareturnedonwhencheckingthegaspressure.Theapplianceanditsindividualshut-offvalvemustbedisconnectedfromthegassupplypipingsystemduringanypressuretestingofthatsystematpressuresinexcessof½”psig.Incasedetailedinstructionsontheinstallationandconnectionofthegassupplyarerequired,contactyourdealerordistributor.
Leveling
Ensurethefridgeislevelbyusinga2ftlevel.Thisisaccomplishedbyadjustingthefeetatthefront,underneaththefridge.

General Operating Instructions
ImportanceofLevelingaRefrigerator
Therefrigeratormustbeadjustedtoahorizontalpositioninbothdirections.Inanabsorptionrefrigerationsystem,ammoniaisliquefiedinthefinnedcondensercoilatthetoprearoftherefrigerator.Theliquidammoniathenflowsintotheevaporator(insidethefreezersection)andisexposedtocirculatingflowofhydrogengas,whichcausestheammoniatoevaporate,creatingacoldconditioninthefreezer.Whenstartingthisrefrigeratorfortheveryfirsttime,thecoolingcyclemayrequireuptoeighthoursofrunningtimebeforethecoolingunitisfullyoperationaltobeginslowlyloadingcompartment.Thetubingintheevaporatorsectionisspecificallyslopedtoprovideacontinuousmovementofliquidammonia,flowingdownwardbygravitythroughthissection.Iftherefrigeratorisoperatedwhennotlevel,liquidammoniawillaccumulateinsectionsoftheevaporatortubing.Thiswillslowthecirculationofhydrogenandammoniagas,orinseverecases,completelyblockit,resultinginalossofcooling.Warrantywillnotcoverrecharge/rebuildifcausedbynotrunningthefridgelevel.

Note:AfterchanginganLPtank,orafteralongshutoffperiod,thegaslineislikelytobefilledwithair.Youmayhavetorepeatthelightingprocedureseveraltimestopurgetheairoutofthegaslines.Wesuggestfirstturningoffgasatthecontrolpanel,thenthetank,thiswillreduceanairtrapinthegasline.

Gas Operation

2. TurnthegasshutoffvalveCtotheONposition–totheleft
3. TurnthermostatbuttonBfullyclockwise(Max),starttosparkigniterbuttonA
beforedepressingthegascontrolbuttonE,theremaybeaperiodoftime
requiredforairtoescapefromthegaslineandflowuptoburner.Lengthof
timewillvarydependingondistanceofthefridgetopropanetank.Continue
pushingtheigniterbuttonwhileholdinginthegasbuttonuntiltheneedlein
theflameindicatorDmovesintothegreenarea(totheleft).
4. Whentheneedlestartstomoveintothegreenarea,thismeansflameisnow
lit.StopsparkingandcontinuetoholdgasbuttonEdownforanadditional10
seconds.Releasegasbutton,fridgeshouldnowstaylitandtheneedleshould
remaininthegreenarea.
5. Oncealltheabovehasbeendoneandyouarereadytore-startyourfridgefor
use,leavethethermostatbuttonat“4”.Settingthethermostatto"4"will
allowthefridgetogettooptimumcoolingtemperature.Itmaybenecessary
toadjustthetemperaturecontrolonthethermostatknobtosuityourneeds.
6. Thequantityoffoodintherefrigerator,thefrequencywithwhichthe
refrigeratordoorsareopenedandtheroomtemperaturewillallaffect
refrigeratortemperatures.

Thermostat
Athermostatcontrolstherefrigeratorcoolingtemperature;itcanbeadjustedbyturningknobBtodifferentsettingstomaintainthedesiredrefrigeratortemperature.KnobEalsoincorporatesasafetydevice,whichautomaticallyshutsoffthesupplyofgasiftheflamegoesout.Thepiezoelectricigniterdischargessparksontotheburnerwhenthebuttonispushed.
1.“Defrost”DefrostSettingontheGasThermostat:Ingasoperation,thethermostatclosesitsmainvalveandtheburnerrunscontinuouslyatthebypassrateorpilotflame.(Counterclockwiseturn)
2.“Max”SettingoftheThermostat:Ingasoperation,thethermostatallowstheburnertoremainonhighflamecontinuously.(Clockwiseturn)
3.Thethermostatcanbeadjustedbetween“Max”and“Defrost”toobtainthedesiredfridgetemperature.
Whenthethermostatreachesthesettemperature,itwillcuttheburnerbacktobypassoperation.
Thesettingofthethermostatiscriticalandrecommenditbeadjustedtomaintainadryfrostonthecoolingfins(approx.38°Fahrenheitor3°Celsius).Adjustthethermostatknobcloserto“Max”(clockwise)whentheoutsidetemperaturerises.

How to Use the Refrigerator
FOODSTORAGECOMPARTMENTThefoodstoragecompartmentiscompletelyclosedandunventilated,whichisnecessarytomaintaintherequiredlowtemperatureforfoodstorage.Thecoldestareasintherefrigeratorareunderthecoolingfinsandatthebottomoftherefrigerator.Thewarmerareasareontheupperdoorshelves.Thisshouldbeconsideredwhenplacingdifferenttypesoffoodintherefrigerator.DEFROSTINGFrostwillgraduallyaccumulateinsidetherefrigeratorontheevaporatorplate.Itmustnotbeallowedtogrowtoothickasitactsasaninsulatorandadverselyaffectstherefrigeratorperformance.Checktheformationoffrosteveryweekandwhenitexceeds3/8”thickormore,defrosttherefrigerator.Itwillnothurtthefridgetohavetheicebuildup.Ifitgetstoothickitwillactasaninsulatorandhamperthecoolingabilityofthefridge.Defrostingcanbedonewiththefridgerunningifsodesired.SimplyopenbothdoorsandturnthermostattoDefrost,orfullycounterclockwise.Oncetheicestartstomeltatowelcanbeplacedundertheevaporatorfinsinthefridge,thenpullofftheice.Wipethefinscleanandshutbothdoors.
DO NOT USE A HOT AIR BLOWER, PERMANENT DAMAGE COULD RESULT , DO NOT USE A KNIFE, AN ICE PICK, OR ANY OTHER SHARP TOOLS TO REMOVE FROST
FROM THE EVAPORATOR PLATE.
Insidetherefrigeratorcompartment,thedefrostwaterrunsfromacollectorchanneltoadriptray/cupattherearoftherefrigeratorwhereitnormallyevaporates.Ifheavyfrosthasbuiltuponthecoolingfinscreatingalotofdefrostwater.Bewareyourwaterreservoirmayoverflow,wesuggestyouinspectthereservoirbeforeandaftercycle.
Note: When all frost has melted set the thermostat to its max position untildesiredinteriortemperaturehasbeenachieved,approx.8plushrsdependentonroomtemperature,andthenreplaceallfood.

Cleaning
Cleaningtherefrigeratorisusuallydoneafteritisdefrostedorputintostorage.Tocleantheinteriorlineroftherefrigerator,uselukewarmdishsoapsolution.Useonlywarmwatertocleanthefinnedevaporator,gasket,icetraysandshelves.
Neverusestrongchemicalsorabrasivestocleanthesepartsastheprotectivesurfaceswillbedamaged.Itisimportanttoalwayskeeptherefrigeratorclean.Dishsoapisrecommended.
Interior Light
The interior light is located inside the fridge compartment at the top. You canreplace it byunscrewing counter clockwise. Four “D” sizebatteriesoperate theinterior light. The battery compartment is located on the exterior back of thefridge,bottomrightsidewhilefacingthebackofthefridge.
Shut Down Procedure
A. Turngasvalveknob“C”tothe“off”position
B. Iftherefrigeratorwillnotbeinoperationforaperiodofweeks,itshouldbeemptied,defrosted,cleanedandthedoorsleftopen.Theicetrayshouldalsobedriedandkeptoutsidethecabinet.Alsoturnoffgasatgascontrolthenthemainsupplysource.

Theusershouldbeawareofservicethatmustbedoneonaregularscheduletokeeptherefrigeratoroperatingproperly.InstallationmustbebyalicensedgasfitterinaccordancewithlocalcodesorintheabsenceoflocalnationalFuelGasCode,ANSIZ233.1andinCanadaB149.2PropaneStorageandHandlingCode(latestedition).
REFRIGERATOR REMOVAL
Beforeworkingontherefrigerator,shutoffthegassupply.Disconnectthegassupplylineattherearoftherefrigerator.Alwaysuseabackupwrenchwhenlooseningandtighteningthisconnection.Capthegassupplylineandremovetherefrigerator.Replacementisthereverseofremoval.Checkallconnectionsforgasleaks.
RefertoChapter2INSTALLATION
PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
Beforeworkingonrefrigerator,shutoffthegassupply.Disconnectthegaslineatthe rear of the refrigerator. Always use a back upwrenchwhen loosening andtightening this connection. Cap the gas supply line and remove refrigerator.Replacementisthereverseofremoval.Checkallconnectionsforgasleaks.RefertoChapter2,Installation.
Tokeepyourrefrigeratoroperatingeffectivelyandsafely,periodicinspectionandcleaningofseveralcomponentsisrecommendedonceortwiceayear,sometimesmoreoftendependingonenvironment.
• It'simportanttokeeptheareaatthebackoftherefrigeratorclean.Cleanthecoilsonthebackoftherefrigerator.Useasoftbristledbrushtodustoffthecoils.
Note: The following maintenance is required at least once or twice a year.

• CheckallconnectorsinthecompleterefrigeratorLPgassystemforgasleaks.TheLPgassupplymustbeturnedon.ApplyanoncorrosivebubblesolutiontoallLPconnections.Theappearanceofbubblesindicatesaleakandshouldberepairedimmediatelybyaqualifiedserviceman.

Checkburnerflameforproperappearance.Theflameshouldbelightbluewithnoyellowatthetip.Seefigure#6
• TheLPgaspressureshouldbecheckedandthemainregulatorreadjustedifpressureisincorrect.Thecorrectoperatingpressureis11”W.C.(watercolumn).
• Inspectthefluebaffle,itshouldbecleanandfreeofsoot.Anysootformationindicatesimproperfunctioningoftheburner.Theflueandburnerbothrequirecleaninginthefollowingmanner:
o Removecoverfromtheburnerhousing.o Disconnectthewirefromthesparkelectrodeo Removetheburnero Removethewireandfluebafflefromthetopoffluetube.Clean

o Beforeremovingburnerorifice,cleanburnerareaofanysoot,scaleordirt.Removetheorificeandsoakitinalcohol(isopropylalcoholorthinners)andblowitoutwithcompressedair.Re-installandtightenburnerorifice.
o Re-installburner
Warning-DONOTuseapinorwirewhencleaningtheburner orifice as damage can occur to the precisionopening.Thiscancausedamagetotherefrigeratororcreate a fire hazard. It will also create extremelydangerouslevelsofcarbonmonoxide.
o Besuretoreconnectthewiretotheelectrode.Checkthe
electrodeforproperlocationandgap.Seefigure#8
o Theinlet&outletgasfittingsontherefrigeratorneedtobecheckedforleaks.Applyanoncorrosivebubblesolutiontothefittingsandobserveforleaks.Thesafetyvalvewillnotallowgaspressuretoanyconnectionsbetweenitandtheburnerorifice.Thesefittingsmustbecheckedwhileburnerisinoperation(gasflowwillbepresentbetweensafteyvalveandburnerhead)
WARNING–Thesafetyvalve(“E”buttonFig#5)mustbemanuallydepressedtoallowgaspressuretoflowtotheburnerorifice.Besuretoapplytheleakchecksolutionbeforedepressingthesafetyshut–off.DONOTallowanyopenflame,sparks,smoking,etc.intheareaofthetest.DONOTdepresssafetyshut-offforover30seconds.

1.0 WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT CO Carbonmonoxide(CO) isan insidiouspoison. It isacolorless,odorless
andtastelessgas.Itisacumulativepoison.ThefollowingsymptomsarerelatedtoCARBONMONOXIDEPOISONINGandshouldbediscussedwithALLmembersofthehousehold:
MILDEXPOSURESlightheadache,nausea,vomiting,fatigue(oftendescribedas"flu–like"symptoms)
MEDIUMEXPOSURESeverethrobbingheadache,drowsiness,confusion,fastheartrate
EXTREMEEXPOSUREUnconsciousness,convulsions,cardiorespiratoryfailure,death
Many cases of reported CARBONMONOXIDE POISONING indicate thatwhile victimsareaware theyarenotwell, theybecomesodisorientedthey are unable to save themselves by either exiting the building orcalling for assistance.Also, young childrenandhouseholdpetsmaybethefirstaffected.YourCOalarmisdesignedtodetectthetoxicCOfumesthatresultfromincomplete combustion, such as those emitted from appliances,furnaces,fireplacesandautoexhaust.ACOalarmisNOTASUBSTITUTEforothercombustiblegas,fireorsmokealarms.Thiscarbonmonoxidealarm is designed to detect carbonmonoxide gas from ANY source ofcombustion.CAUTION:Thisalarmwillonlyindicatethepresenceofcarbonmonoxidegasatthesensor.Carbonmonoxidegasmaybepresentinotherareas.

4.1 Thisunitisdesignedtodetectcarbonmonoxide(CO)andshutoffanapplianceforsafetyonly.
4.2 ThisCOalarmisdesignedforusewithinasingleresidentialliving
unit. It is designed to detect carbonmonoxide (CO) entering itssensing chamber. It does not sense combustible gas (such asnaturalgas,propaneor(butane),heat,smokeorflames.
4.3 ThisCOalarmmaynotprovideearlywarningforoccupantsifitis
placedoutsideofthehouse,suchasonoutsideporches.
4.4 When properly located, installed, and maintained, this CO alarm isdesigned to provide early warning of developing poisonous COconditionsatareasonablecost.Thisalarmmonitorstheair,andwhenitsensesCO,itactivatesitsbuilt-inalarm.ItcanprovideprecioustimeforyouandyourfamilytoescapefromyourresidencebeforeCOcanseriouslyinjureorkill.However,suchanearlywarningispossibleonlyif the alarm is located, installed, andmaintained as specified in theOwner'sManualandtheInstructionfortheSafetyShutoffConnection.
5.0 INSTALLINGTHECOSTAR9RV-SSO5.1 One of themost important considerations in any CO alarm system is
the location of the alarms. Statistics of the National Fire ProtectionAssociation(NFPA)showthatmostofthefatalCOoccurrenceshappenatnightwhilepeoplearesleepingand/orwhiletheyareinthegarage.EarlywarningofCO isbest achievedby the correct installationofCOalarms.

WARNING:Batteryisrequiredforoperationofappliance,alarmoperationanddetectionofcarbonmonoxide.Ifnobatteryisinstalled,theappliancewillnotstaylit.Thebatterydoorwillnotcloseeasilyandtheunitwillnotattachtothemountingbracket.
6.6 Twistthealarminthedirectionindicatedbythe“ON”arrowonthe
alarmcover(seestepD)untilitlocksinplace.
6.7 Tomakeyourcarbonmonoxidealarmtamperresistant,alockingpinhasbeenprovided in thebagwith the screwsandanchors. Using this pinwill deter children and others from removing the alarm from themountingplate.Tousethepininsertit intotheholeinthesideofthealarm after the alarm has been installed on the mounting plate (See
Figure 2: Installation Instructions

Figure3).Notethetamperresistpinwillhavetoberemovedinordertochangethebattery;thiscanbedoneeasilywithalongnosepliers.Usingthe long nose pliers pull the pin out of the hole, it is now possible toremovethealarmfromthemountingplate.

6.8 This box contains two self-adhesive labels. You should write thetelephonenumbersoftheemergencyserviceproviderandaqualifiedtechnicianinthespaceprovidedonthelabels.Placeonelabelnexttothealarm,and theother labelneara sourceof freshairwhereyouplan to gather after the alarm indicates the presence of carbonmonoxide.
7.0 ALARMSIGNALS7.1. NORMALOPERATION:REDL.E.D.flashesonceevery30seconds,
indicatingthatthealarmispowered7.2 ALARMCONDITION: Repeating signal pattern: RED LED turns "on"
for 2 seconds with 4 short beeps and then 5 seconds of silence.Pushingandholdingthetest/resetbuttonfor3secondswillsilencethealarmforabout4minutes.After4minutes,thealarmwillonceagainsounduntiltheunsafeCOconcentrationisreduced.
7.3. TROUBLE/SERVICE CONDITION: The alarm self-tests every 10minutes.
ThealarmwillbeepandtheREDLEDflashesonceevery30secondsifafault is detected. This is an indication of a malfunction and that thedetectorrequiresimmediateservicingorreplacement.
7.4. LOWBATTERY:REDLEDflashesandhornchirpevery30seconds.

9.1 To replace the battery remove the alarm from themounting plate by

The alarmwillbeep once indicating proper battery installation. MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, EXCEPT ASREQUIRED BY LAW, AND IN NO CASE FOR A DURATION LONGER THAN THAT OF THIS WRITTENWARRANTY, EXCEPT AS REQUIRED BY LAW, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY WARRANTY OFMERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR AGAINST INFRINGEMENT, OR ANYEXPRESSORIMPLIEDWARRANTYARISINGOUTOFTRADEUSAGEOROUTOFACOURSEOFDEALINGORCOURSEOFPERFORMANCE.UNIQUEGASPRODUCTSLTD.hasnotauthorizedanyotherpartytoextendanyotherwarranties inconnectionwith thesaleof theproduct,andwillnotaccept responsibility foranystatements,representations,orwarrantiesmadebyanyotherperson.
This limited warranty does not cover: (1) 9 volt alkaline battery; (2) products which have beenimproperly installed,repaired,maintained,modified,orwhichhavebeensubjectedtomisuse,abuse,accident,neglect,exposuretofire,water,orexcessivechangesinclimateortemperature,orcombinedwithnon-UNIQUEGASPRODUCTSLTD.. -approvedaccessories; (3)physicaldamagecausedfromuseotherthannormalandproperoperationorhandling,asspecifiedintheowner'smanual;(4)cosmeticdamage; (5) products on which warranty stickers or product serial numbers have been removed,altered,orrenderedillegible;(6)thecostofinstallation,removalorreinstallation.
