HIGH NUMBER OF REPORTSCounties shown on the map above have an unusually highamount of Bigfoot Sighting reports. An explanation may be:

A community of Bigfoot inhabits the area. Misidentification of existing wildlife. A considerable amount of hoax reports.

To date our research has not found or obtained anyconvincing evidence that Bigfoot inhabits the State ofPennsylvania. That said, it does not mean they do not. Itmeans no conclusive evidence has ever been presented toprove they roam the farmlands and forested areas of thestate.

ANIMAL MUTILATIONSThere have been no reports of Cattle Mutilations inPennsylvania that can be located and verified.

UFORCOP NOTEWe do not accept donations of any type. We are self-funded. We do not charge a fee for Research orInvestigations.

INVESTIGATION TIPSEVIDENCE

DISCOVERY, COLLECTION, PRESERVATION & RETENTIONThe process of Discovery, Collection, Preservation andRetention of Trace Evidence within the parameters andcategory of the type of investigations will constantly test yourknowledge and skill.

One must first understand, in the investigative world we livein there are only two (2) types of witnesses. The first is a“FACT WITNESS” and the second is an “EXPERTWITNESS”.

FACT WITNESS: A FACT WITNESS IS ONE WHO’STESTIMONY IS NOT BASED ON SCIENTIFIC,TECHNICAL, OR OTHER SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE,OF THE SUBJET MATTER UNDER INVESTIGATION. THEMAJORITY OF THE WITNESS REPORTS THAT AREPRESENTED FOR INVESTIGATION ORIGINATE FROMAN INDIVIDUAL IDENTIFIED AS A “FACT WITNESS”.

EXPERT WITNESS: AN EXPERT WITNESS ISGENERALLY DEFINED AS SOMEONE WITH SUFFICIENTSKILL, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE IN A GIVENFIELD SO AS TO BE CAPABLE OF DRAWINGINFERENCES OR REACHING CONCLUSIONS ORRENDERING OPINIONS THAT THE AVERAGE PERSONWOULD NOT BE COMPETENT TO DO.

SCIENTIFIC METHODOLOGYThe scientific approach is a principle of inquiry during theinvestigation that forms a basis for legitimate scientificprocesses. It is normally applied using the following steps:

RECOGNIZE THE NEED (IDENTIFY THE PROBLEMS)DEFINE THE PROBLEMCOLLECT ALL AVAILABLE DATA (INDUCTIVEREASONING)

DEVELOP A HYPOTHESIS AND TEST THE HYPOTHESISIf you as a researcher apply the above methodology to eachand every investigation, you will find it provides for theorganizational and analytical process to culminate into a

successful investigative conclusion and expert opinion to berendered.

EVIDENCE TYPESDuring any investigation there are basically only four (4)types of evidence, all of which in some manner relate to yourinvestigations. They are as follows:

1. DEMONSTRATIVE EVIDENCE2. DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE3. TESTIMONIAL EVIDENCE4. PHYSICAL EVIDENCE

This article will deal with the “PHYSICAL EVIDENCE” only.

You have been assigned a case where you discover theevent that took place, left behind trace evidence that needsto be recovered for future analysis. What do you do?Where do you start? How do you handle the unknownsubstance? How do you retain a sample? Upon your arrivalat the scene of the reported incident, if no one took theresponsibility and preliminary steps to preserve and protectthe scene, you must take that responsibility. Remember toalways, protect the scene, document the evidence, collectthe evidence and preserve the evidence.

Evidence Containers can be made out of almost any cleanreceptacle that can be sealed.

CONTAMINATION OF PHYSICAL EVIDENCECan occur from improper methods of collection, storage orshipment. Just like improper preservation of the incidentscene, any contamination of physical evidence may greatlyreduce or nullify the evidentiary value of the physicalevidence.

CAUTIONUnless proper care is taken, physical evidence may becomecontaminated through the use of contaminated evidencecontainers. For this reason, the investigator should takeevery reasonable precaution to ensure that the “NEW”containers are stored separately from used containers orcontaminated areas. An evidence collection containershould be opened only to receive evidence at the collectionpoint, at which time it should be resealed pending laboratoryexamination.

CROSS CONTAMINATIONMost contamination of physical evidence occurs during thecollection phase. Always wear disposable plastic or rubbersurgical gloves. When it is necessary to collect more thanone sample, always dispose of the used gloves and utilize anew pair prior to handling additional evidence. Each tool orinstrument utilized shall be cleaned prior to and after eachusage. Always clean the tool with sterile water betweeneach collection process.

EVIDENCE CONTAMINATION When collecting or even examining possible trace

evidence, care must be taken to prevent crosscontamination and loss of trace materials.

If an investigation involves disciplines other than traceevidence, the involved investigators should confer

before any work is undertaken. Unless circumstancesdictate otherwise, the trace evidence should becollected and preserves prior to other examinations.

Contact between items and/or the investigator, beforethe appropriate trace evidence has been securedshould be restricted.

Appropriate protective apparel, such as disposablegloves, must be worn to prevent contamination from theinvestigator performing the task. The gloves must bechanged as necessary to avoid contamination ortransfer between evidentiary items, locations andpersonnel.

Items being collected for future examination must behandled as little as possible to minimize loss of tracematerials and to limit exposure of the items tocontaminants.

Collect, package, and seal items individually inappropriate packaging. Keep items in a secure, sealedpackage until the item is processed in a controlledenvironment.

Equipment surfaces used during collection andexamination must be cleaned in an appropriate mannerbefore processing begins and as often as necessaryduring processing to prevent contamination.

Any contact, condition, or situation that could causecontamination or otherwise compromise the traceevidence examination must be documented andcommunicated between the laboratory analyst oranalysts and the submitter.

Trace evidence shall remain in secure, controlled-access areas, protected from loss, damage, orcontamination. It must have a documented with acontinuous chain of custody from the time of evidence

collection until the time the evidence is turned over to alab or other like facility, for analysis.

NOTE: It should be noted the responsibility of traceevidence collection could be assigned to personnel ofvarying occupations and levels of expertise. It is there forimperative that each and every researcher familiarizesthemselves with procedures, proper dialog, equipment andreceptacles, in order to accomplish the best job possible.

Evidence Collection Kit

Both UFORCOP Mobile Units carry evidence collection kits similar tothe one pictured above. They are expensive but you can put your

own together for a fraction of the cost.

Paranormal Tips

Never take photographs without first removing the camerastrap. Loose straps have been the cause of many falsepositives in paranormal investigation photos. Clean the lensproperly. Know how your camera operates before you starttaking photos. Do not smoke. Be aware of reflective surfacesbefore taking your picture. Always carry fresh batteries foryour equipment. The use of a tripod and remote shutterrelease are the preferred method of capturing a good photo.

Notable UFO Quotes

"The evidence is overwhelming that Planet Earth is beingvisited by intelligently controlled extraterrestrial spacecraft. Inother words, some UFOs are alien spacecraft. Most are not. It's clear from the opinion polls and my own experience, thatindeed most people accept the notion that some UFOs arealien spacecraft. The greater the education, the more likelyto accept this proposition"-- Stanton Friedman Defense Contractor Nuclear Physicist

"The UFO phenomenon being reported is something realand not visionary or fictitious"--General Nathan Twining Chairman, Joint chiefs of Staff,1955-1958

"When the long awaited solution to the UFO problem comes,I believe that it will prove to be not merely the next small stepin the march of science, but a mighty and totally unexpectedquantum leap." "We had a job to do, whether right or wrong,to keep the public from getting excited"--Dr. J. Allen Hynek, Director US Air Force Project Blue Bookas a Scientific Consultant, Astronomer, Investigator.
