Logic is a Software Sequencer

Logic Studio is primarily a software sequencer Supports recording and arranging of audio, MIDI and software

instrument tracks and live input via instrument or microphone Software includes many virtual instrument devices such as

piano and keyboard types used in popular music from the last four decades

Also has many capable synthesizer modules for general playing and effects sounds

Includes thousands of clips, effect sounds, ambiences and loops for just about any instrument - these are contained in the Jam Packs

A full install of Logic Studio 8 is around 50GB

Using Logic

Logic bases its file naming around the concept of a Project Logic has several pre-built setups called Project Templates The pre-built project templates feature collections of virtual instruments

and tracks associated with a particular music genre or style When starting Logic you can opt to start with an empty project Logic then prompts you to choose a new empty track for your project Track options are:

Audio - select if you want to use re-recorded clips from the Jam Packs or live input Software Instrument - select if you want to insert and record a virtual instrument device

such as a synthesizer, dedicated instrument e.g virtual organ / piano or asoftware sampler which has its own collection of sounds to emulate instruments

If you create a setup you want to use again you can save it as a Custom Template

Your custom templates will appear each time you launch Logic
