UEM ICT INFRASTRUCTURE
Internet Gateway (CIUEM) connected to SEACOM;
Fiber optics networks at Main Campus and Faculty of Engineering;
All units outside the Main Campus are linked via wireless systems to the gateway;
Current UEM total bandwidth capacity is 155 Mbps.
Current Connectivity Situation at FoM and CMH
UEM backbone upgrade delayed Current connection to CIUEM still insufficient
and unstable! Expansion of the local networks at FoM and
MCH in progress Interconnecting FoM and CMH procurement
in progress
Medical Informatics/ICT Training at UEM
CIUEM is the ICT training centre at UEM However available courses are only for IT
professionals There is no IT training for medical
personnel specifically Linkage between MEPI and Brazilian
training program for medical staff and students in progress
Medical Library
An electronic library will be established in Maputo to serve FoM, Unilurio and Unizambeze
Needs assessment currently in progress (infrastructure survey at Unilurio completed)
MEPI website/portal “draft” version online
